Feb 4, 2026 at 11:17 AMIn December 2025, the North American commercial vehicle industry recorded a 20% increase in preliminary net orders for Class 8 compared to the previous year. The orders amounted to 30,800 units. These figures are part of the monthly reporting by ACT Research, which provides data on the industry. The complete industry data for January, including final order numbers, will be published in mid-February.
Causes for the Increase in Orders
Carter Vieth, research analyst at ACT Research, explained that several factors contributed to this development. After a weak October and November, the market situation improved. The U.S. economy continues to exceed expectations, positively impacting demand. Additionally, clarity regarding EPA’27 (Environmental Protection Agency) has stimulated orders. Another crucial aspect is the rise in spot rates observed since late November following several snowstorms in the Midwest.
