Feb 3, 2026 at 10:07 AMThe AD Ports Group has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Transport, Communication and Opening of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as well as the National Transport Authority (ONATRA SA). The aim of this agreement is to examine the development and operation of a multipurpose terminal at the Port of Matadi.
The signing of the so-called Heads of Terms took place at the Presidential Court in Abu Dhabi. Present were H.E. Jean-Pierre Bemba Gombo, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communication of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as well as Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group.
Cooperation Framework for Port Development
The preliminary agreement establishes a cooperation framework that enables AD Ports Group and ONATRA SA to examine the development and operation of the planned multipurpose terminal at the Port of Matadi. The initiative aims to enhance the operational efficiency and capacity of the port, as AD Ports reports. Additionally, it is intended to support the growing trade volume of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and optimize import and export flows.
