Feb 2, 2026 at 11:32 AMContecon Manzanillo has handled more than 12 million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) since it began operations in 2013. This was announced by International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), whose subsidiary operates Terminal II at the Port of Manzanillo. This figure is intended to highlight the terminal’s central role as the main access point for international container trade in Mexico, as stated by the company.
A comprehensive strategy, based on solid operational capacity and efficiency according to ICTSI, has contributed to Contecon Manzanillo achieving the highest container throughput at the Port of Manzanillo. In 2025, the terminal reported a growth of 10.5% in import volumes and 12.5% in export volumes, while the performance of most other ports along the Pacific coast of Mexico largely stagnated, as reported by the company.
Investments for Capacity Expansion
Since 2023, Contecon Manzanillo has invested more than 300 million USD in expansion phases 3A and 3B. These investments aim to increase the capacity of storage and berthing spaces and to add specialized equipment.
