Jan 26, 2026 at 10:56 AMEllerman City Liners has launched a new short-sea service connecting the Baltic Sea with the United Kingdom and the Benelux region. This service, known as „BALTEX,“ represents the company’s first route of this kind in the region, as stated. The BALTEX service operates on a weekly rotation and serves several ports, including Riga in Latvia, Gdynia in Poland, Teesport and Tilbury in the United Kingdom, Rotterdam in the Netherlands, and Oslo in Norway.
With a capacity of 1,160 TEU per trip, the service offers transshipment connections to Spain and Portugal via the port of Tilbury. The introduction of the BALTEX service expands Ellerman City Liners‘ presence in the Baltic states and aims to strengthen the company’s position in the corridor between Rotterdam and Oslo. The BALTEX service is the latest addition to the portfolio of Ellerman City Liners, which already includes six other short-sea services in Northern Europe, such as „iNEX 1,“ „iNEX 2,“ „iPEX 1 & 2,“ „iPEX 3,“ and „iBEX 1.“
