Unloading of containers from the new shipping service.
The Visayas Container Terminal (VCT) in the port of Iloilo, Philippines, has recently received the first call of Maersk’s new „PH6-Service.“ According to a company statement, this step is seen as an improvement in international trade connections for the Visayas region. With the arrival of the „Maersk-Bahamas,“ customers in Panay and the surrounding West Visayas region will have direct access to key trade centers such as Yantian in mainland China and Hong Kong.
Expansion of trade connections
The new service offers importers and exporters the opportunity to benefit from optimized transit times, contributing to lower logistics costs. The „PH6-Service“ will call at VCT every Tuesday and follows a port rotation that includes Yantian (Shenzhen), Hong Kong, Batangas, Tagoloan (Cagayan de Oro), Cebu, and Iloilo.
John Largo, CEO of VCT, comments on this new offering: “The addition of the PH6 service to VCT’s offerings highlights the terminal’s growing role in regional trade. It also reflects the trust in our capabilities as a modern gateway capable of seamlessly handling foreign container ships and providing customers with precise, reliable service.”
