Logistics Leader of the Year Award for Stefan Hohm
The audience was thrilled by the award presented to Stefan Hohm, Chief Development Officer (CDO) of DACHSER SE. He received the “Logistics Leader of the Year Award 2025” sponsored by STILL. The award recognizes his significant contribution to the innovation and digitalization strategy of the Kempten logistics service provider.
Having been with the company for 33 years, Hohm represents a blend of pragmatism and technical progress. Under his leadership, research and development at DACHSER have become a strategic cornerstone. Projects developed under his responsibility include the digital twin @ILO for real-time representation of general cargo warehouses, emission-free city logistics solutions, real-time tracking of trailers and swap bodies, as well as numerous initiatives in the fields of AI, machine learning, and big data.
Frank Müller, Senior Vice President Sales & Service Business Development at STILL, emphasized in his laudation: “Stefan Hohm exemplifies a modern understanding of leadership – one that perceives change not as a risk but as a space for design. More crucial than the ‘what’ of his innovations is the ‘how’: He creates structures in which new ideas can emerge, supported by attitude, teamwork, and the commitment to do the right thing correctly in the long term.”
Lynn C. Fritz Medal for Excellence in Humanitarian Logistics for Welthungerhilfe
For the third time, the Lynn C. Fritz Medal for Excellence in Humanitarian Logistics was awarded during the event: The medal, sponsored by the Fritz Institute in California, was awarded for the first time to a German aid organization: Welthungerhilfe (WHH).
The project “Emergency Supply Prepositioning Strategy (ESUPS)” was recognized for improving national strategies for the stockpiling of aid supplies in disaster regions. At its core is the digital platform STOCKHOLM, which transparently represents the inventories of various humanitarian organizations and provides recommendations on which goods should be held in what quantities at which locations. ESUPS thus creates visibility, facilitates collaboration between NGOs, government agencies, and UN organizations, and shortens response times. At the same time, it reduces costs for storage and the disposal of outdated inventories.
Exemplary for the field of humanitarian logistics
“This communication platform, which led to a rapid networking of the actors, is exemplary for the entire field of humanitarian logistics,” emphasized Dr. Anisya Thomas Fritz, co-founder of the Fritz Institute, in her laudation. “Today, 127 actors exchange data on inventories with 800 logistics experts in 60 countries, paving the way for coordinated preparedness strategies to be established. These numbers are truly impressive,” she continued.
The Lynn C. Fritz Medal for Excellence in Humanitarian Logistics is awarded annually to humanitarian organizations and their partners for outstanding logistics projects. The international award is presented by the Logistics Hall of Fame. The sponsor is the Fritz Institute from the USA.
