Dec 2, 2025 at 2:19 PMOn December 1, 2025, the Fourth Act Amending Toll Law Regulations came into force. It includes regulations for two aspects – the extension of the toll exemption for emission-free vehicles and the introduction of an additional booking option in the truck toll system with TollNow.
(Berlin) The existing toll exemption for emission-free trucks, which was previously limited until the end of 2025, will be extended until June 30, 2031. This allows the legislator to fully utilize the exemption period permitted by the European Eurovignette Directive.
Toll Collect offers the option to register emission-free vehicles as non-toll liable. This avoids unnecessary diversions, control procedures, and hearings.
The registration of emission-free vehicles already recorded as toll-exempt will be automatically extended by Toll Collect until December 31, 2027.
Legal Basis for TollNow
The Fourth Amendment Act on Toll Law Regulations also establishes the legal basis for TollNow, a method for semi-automatic toll booking via smartphone or tablet. The TollNow app records the toll distance traveled during the journey. It is a practical solution, especially for occasional drivers who prefer spontaneous route planning. Unlike the previous manual booking via the internet and app into the toll system, no advance booking of the toll is necessary. The iOS version of TollNow will initially be released in January 2026.
