Leschaco Launches Multi-Logistics Center in Bremen
Oct 14, 2025 at 1:37 PM25 years ago, Gebrüder Weiss opened its first branch in Croatia. At that time, the country was just beginning its economic transformation. Today, the international logistics company draws a positive balance. Since entering the market in 2000, Gebrüder Weiss has continuously invested in infrastructure, digitalization, and the expansion of its services. At the three locations in Zagreb, Rijeka, and Split, the company offers comprehensive solutions in the areas of land transport, logistics solutions, air and sea freight.
(Lauterach/Zagreb) At the headquarters established in 2019 in Zagreb, the logistics terminal has recently been expanded, increasing the logistics area to over 20,000 square meters. This expansion responds to the increased customer demand in international and national goods traffic.
“We believed in Croatia’s potential early on, and it has paid off. The economic development of the country since EU membership and integration into the Schengen and Eurozone has been a decisive catalyst for our business,” says Wolfram Senger-Weiss, Chairman of the Management Board of Gebrüder Weiss, on the company’s anniversary.
The Home Delivery business has developed particularly dynamically as a result of the e-commerce boom. Especially in the tourist areas along the Croatian Adriatic coast, the demand for end customer deliveries remains high. Therefore, an additional transshipment warehouse is planned near Split (Dalmatia).
“Croatia not only offers an excellent strategic location for goods traffic between the EU and the Western Balkans but also an attractive environment for investments. Access to the important Adriatic ports of Rijeka, Koper, and Trieste, as well as the good transport infrastructure, make Croatia a powerful logistics location with great development potential for multimodal transport,” explains Thomas Schauer, Regional Manager Central and Southeastern Europe at Gebrüder Weiss. Croatia is expected to be used even more as a transshipment point for further transport to neighboring countries in the future.
Modern, digital, and sustainable logistics solutions
To grow sustainably, Gebrüder Weiss also connects economy with ecology in Croatia: This includes efficient building and energy management through photovoltaic systems and heat pumps, as well as the expansion of electromobility. Currently, five electric transporters are in use in Zagreb, and two electric cargo tricycles are operating on the islands of Rab and Lošinj.
By investing in digital services, automated processes, and the training of skilled workers, Gebrüder Weiss further strengthens its position in the Croatian market. “Our goal is to provide customers with modern, digital, and sustainable logistics solutions – while also creating attractive jobs in the region,” says Barbara Bujačić, Country Manager of Gebrüder Weiss Croatia.
