Jan 17, 2025 at 9:39 PMThe Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility (BALM) has conducted an online survey among companies in the German transport and logistics industry and the shipping economy to examine the situation in combined transport more closely. Overall, a heterogeneous mood picture emerges.
(Köln) Respondent companies that already use combined transport have a more positive attitude towards it than companies that are currently not active in combined transport. The greatest strength of combined transport, as highlighted by the surveyed companies, is its climate and environmental friendliness; potentials are particularly seen in improving punctuality, rail infrastructure, and reliability, as well as a greater range of routes and departure frequencies. The majority of surveyed users of combined transport could theoretically already use it more than they currently do.
Broad-based Online Survey
The survey on combined transport is one of several broad-based online surveys that BALM conducted for the first time in this form in 2024. Given the high willingness of companies to participate in previous online surveys, this method of information gathering is to be continued in order to provide more timely and comprehensive information and assessments on significant developments in the transport and logistics market in the future, involving as many participants in the transport process as possible.
