The Logistics Initiative Bavaria and the Bavarian State Ministry for Housing, Construction and Transport awarded four prizes this year as part of the “Logistics | is Female” initiative.
(Nuremberg) For 46% of Bavarian logistics professionals, the shortage of skilled workers is one of the biggest constraints on their business.1 With the “Logistics is Female” initiative, the Bavarian State Ministry for Housing, Construction and Transport, in collaboration with the Logistics Initiative Bavaria and the CNA e.V., aims to strengthen the freight forwarding, transport, and logistics sector in the Free State of Bavaria regarding equality of opportunity, workplace attractiveness, and development potential for women, thereby countering the shortage of young talent and skilled workers. During the “Bavaria | Night of Logistics,” Minister Christian Bernreiter presented this year’s four awards to Christina Scheib | LBT e.V., BLG Logistics Group AG & Co. KG | Bremen, Karen Klement | Dachser Group SE & Co. KG, and Ruth Pflaum | Spedition Pflaum GmbH.
Inspiration for a More Female Logistics Sector
Numerous proposals were submitted to the CNA e.V. as the coordinating body of “Logistics | is Female” and the Logistics Initiative Bavaria. In the end, the jury of logistics managers and scientists had to select the award winners from sixteen nominated individuals and six companies.

The “inspiration | is female” award went to Christina Scheib | Women’s Ambassador of the State Association of Bavarian Transport and Logistics Companies | LBT e.V. in Munich. This award honors women who demonstrate exceptional commitment to gender-sensitive issues, who can serve as role models through their unique career paths, inspiring engagement, or courageous actions, showing how the compatibility of career and family can truly be lived and thus become a role model. As a truck driver with her own transport company, Scheib is an influencer for the industry and particularly encourages women to engage in logistics.
strategy | is female
The BLG Logistics Group AG & Co. KG received the “strategy | is female” award. This award honors companies that stand out for their exemplary commitment to gender-sensitive issues. It highlights companies, organizations, and institutions that provide a positive example for the industry, inspire imitation, or themselves serve as examples of forward-looking decisions, measures, or strategies. Among other things, with a 40% female quota at the executive level and targeted programs for the development of female employees for qualifications and leadership roles, BLG impressed the jury in this category.

The “courage | is female” award was presented to Karen Klement | Head of Strategic Marketing | Corporate Marketing of the DACHSER Group SE & Co. KG. This award honors individuals, companies, institutions, or organizations that engage in gender sensitivity through activities or projects in a special way. It aims to draw attention to their exceptional commitment and achievements and to highlight options for courageous action towards gender equality.
As a mentor, networker, and speaker, Klement has been actively supporting women in the industry for many years.
career | is female
The newly established “career | is female” award went to Ruth Pflaum | Managing Director of Spedition Pflaum GmbH. This award honors individuals, companies, institutions, or organizations that have made significant contributions to equality of opportunity in qualification, training, and further education. The award winners have set new standards that are inspiring and actively counter the shortage of skilled workers or engage for balanced gender quotas. In addition to successfully leading her family business, Pflaum is actively involved in associations and committees for the further development of the logistics sector.

Award Ceremony on the Move
In keeping with the theme of “Transport & Logistics,” the invited guests of the “Bavaria | Night of Logistics” remained in motion during the award ceremony: On a city tour in a state-of-the-art Avenio low-floor tram from the Verkehrs-Aktiengesellschaft Nürnberg, Minister Bernreiter presented the trophies to the award winners. He praised the success of “Logistics | is Female”: “Our award winners this year are committed in various ways to attracting more women to logistics. They demonstrate the diversity of the industry – not just for women. That is why we launched ‘Logistics | is Female’ last year and why we are continuing to work on advancing the initiative this year. This benefits female employees as well as the logistics sector as a whole as an economic driver for Bavaria!”
