Jul 27, 2022 at 4:00 PMOn July 26, the annual award ceremony for the medium-sized business prize “Bavaria’s Best 50” took place at Schleissheim Palace. The logistics service provider Loxxess was among the award winners due to its significant increase in both revenue and employee numbers over the past few years. At the same time, board member Christina Thurner was honored with the title “Bavarian Entrepreneur of the Year” in recognition of her active role in the company’s success.
(Schleissheim) Loxxess AG, a medium-sized logistics company specializing in complex logistics and value-added services headquartered in Tegernsee, is among the companies recognized as “Bavaria’s Best 50” in 2022, an award given annually by the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy.
This award is given to Bavarian medium-sized companies that have significantly increased their revenue and number of employees over the past five years. Hubert Aiwanger, Bavarian State Minister for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, presented the award in a ceremonial setting at Schleissheim Palace, north of Munich. Especially in times of the Corona pandemic and global political crises, it is particularly important to honor the contribution of medium-sized companies to the economy. Loxxess has managed to increase its revenue from approximately 135 million euros in 2017 to 230 million euros in 2021 through organic and inorganic growth, adding about 500 employees during this period.
In addition to the “Bavaria’s Best 50” award, Christina Thurner, along with her brother Dr. Claus-Peter Amberger, board members of Loxxess, received the award for “Bavarian Entrepreneur of the Year.” This initiative aims to enhance the visibility and representation of women in leadership positions and has awarded this title for the third time.
“It is a great honor and joy for us that Loxxess is among the 50 best medium-sized companies in Bavaria in 2022. As a family business in the third generation, we are particularly committed to social and ecological engagement in our region, which we see confirmed today. I hope that my commitment inspires women to advance their careers and businesses. This is especially true for the diverse and exciting opportunities in the dynamic logistics world,” comments Thurner on the two awards.
Christina Thurner studied economics with a focus on logistics at the University of Zurich. At Loxxess, she is a shareholder and board member responsible for IT, operations, corporate development, marketing and communication, the pharmaceutical sector, and the northern and eastern regions of Germany.
She is also involved as a shareholder of the express service provider Trans-o-flex, where she actively shapes the direction of the express service provider in the shareholder committee.
At the same time, the mother of two serves as an advisory board member in the initiative “Die Wirtschaftsmacher.” This initiative brings together over 100 companies from trade, industry, services, media, and science to inform about the functions, diversity, and perspectives of logistics. The goal is to inspire particularly younger people to pursue a career in the logistics world.
In 2020, Christina Thurner was elected to the board of the Federal Association of Logistics (BVL) – as one of the first female representatives of medium-sized businesses. With her passion for innovations, she stands for modern logistics and a changed image of women in the industry.
