Gebrüder Weiss Manages Distribution for Liebherr in Eastern Europe
Nov 11, 2021 at 5:54 PMRecently, TGW Robotics signed the purchase agreement for a new company site in Thansau, near Rosenheim. This marks a central decision for the further development of the robotics and automation specialists. The 25,000 m² building in Thansau offers ample space for assembly, storage, and offices.
(Marchtrenk/Stephanskirchen) TGW Robotics has been part of the TGW Group since 2016 and serves as the competence center for robotics. The automation specialists based in Stephanskirchen develop and produce not only industrial and portal robots but also systems for fully automated carton handling, palletizing, depalletizing, stacking, and destacking. A technological highlight is the intelligent, self-learning picking robot Rovolution: Its innovative concept is based on insights from the field of artificial intelligence and has already been awarded numerous international awards, including the German Innovation Award.
The current location in Stephanskirchen is soon reaching its capacity limits, despite a significant expansion of production and assembly areas in 2018. Since joining the TGW Group, the order volume of TGW Robotics has tripled, and the number of employees has doubled in the same period to around 120. The highly automated modules from TGW Robotics are in use worldwide by customers ranging from Puma to tool manufacturer Einhell to Decathlon. “Intelligent robotics and automation solutions play a key role in enhancing the performance and efficiency of intralogistics systems,” emphasizes Harald Schröpf, Chief Executive Officer of the TGW Logistics Group. “These technologies also form the basis for automating those processes in logistics centers for which it is increasingly difficult to find employees in many regions.”
Foundation for Further Growth
An expansion of the existing location in Stephanskirchen is not possible due to spatial constraints. Therefore, two years ago, efforts began to search for alternatives. Following an intensive analysis, a property located just five minutes by car was identified as the ideal solution. The 25,000 m² building in Thansau provides ample space for assembly, storage, and offices, and also includes an additional 25,000 m² of strategic expansion areas.
Optimal Conditions and Expansion Opportunities.
“The new location perfectly meets our requirements – both in terms of current needs and with regard to planned growth. Robotics, machine learning, and digitalization are drivers in intralogistics and massively accelerate our development. Therefore, we are looking for numerous new employees in the coming months,” emphasizes Stefan Holzner, Managing Director of TGW Robotics. “We are very pleased that we can move after completing minor renovation and remodeling work in the summer of 2022 – another milestone in the history of TGW Robotics.”
