Dec 20, 2020 at 7:16 PMThe logistics software provider LIS has set up a wish tree for the first time. The employees were engaged and provided over 80 gifts for children and elderly people from the region. The initiative has been well received and is set to be repeated.
(Greven) This year, LIS Logistische Informationssysteme AG (LIS) conducted a wish list initiative for the first time. Through social and charitable organizations, the Westphalian company collected Christmas wishes from more than 80 children, seniors, and elderly people who likely do not receive many packages during the holiday season. This year, they will have one more present to unwrap, as numerous LIS employees wholeheartedly purchased the desired gifts for them. On behalf of all involved, LIS board member Magnus Wagner distributed the packages today to representatives of the organizations.
Bringing a Smile to People’s Faces
“This Christmas will be a celebration of sacrifice due to Corona – at least a few small gestures should bring a smile to people’s faces,” says Magnus Wagner, board member of LIS Logistische Informationssysteme AG. For this reason, the logistics software provider set up a Christmas tree in the foyer of the company’s headquarters in Greven during Advent, decorating it with wish lists from children and elderly people from the Münsterland region. It took less than 24 hours for the employees to pick all the notes from the tree. “We were completely overwhelmed by the response to our first wish tree initiative among our staff. Everyone enthusiastically gathered the gifts and wrapped them lovingly for Christmas. It is wonderful to see how much joy people take in bringing happiness to one another,” says Wagner, who personally bought a remote-controlled car for a little boy. He knows from his employees that among the other wish lists were items like warm socks, puzzles, or board games.
Contact via Caritas
Contact with the recipients was established through Caritas Emsdetten-Greven, the LWL Youth Home Tecklenburg, and the Evangelical Youth Welfare Münsterland gGmbH. Wagner handed over the gifts today in the name of his staff to their representatives. They will now be distributed to the children and seniors before the holiday. “I really hope that the packages will bring shining eyes on Christmas Eve,” says Wagner, who is already planning to repeat the initiative in 2021.
