DPDgroup to Introduce Low-Emission Delivery in 225 Cities Across Europe by 2025
Oct 4, 2020 at 5:05 PMThe Logistics Summit as the First Major Live Event 2020 in Logistics
Oct 4, 2020 at 5:45 PMAbout three months after its founding, the pharmaceutical logistics network GDP network solutions draws a positive interim balance. Demand is encouraging, the IT infrastructure and the handling at the central HUB in Kassel are functioning well. Discussions about expanding the network are already underway.
(Biebesheim) The market entry of GDP network solutions was “just in time”. Since the beginning of July, the nationwide network for pharmaceutical logistics has been operational and has now drawn a positive balance of the past three months in Berlin.
Heinrich Koch, Managing Director of Koch International Pharmalogistik, Osnabrück, and Steven Reinhold, Managing Director and CFO of Unitax – both companies are shareholders of the network – provided a positive summary of the operational business at the new pharmaceutical logistics network. Everything is going according to plan, the IT infrastructure is functioning just as the handling at the central hub in Kassel – and most importantly: The service offerings of GDP network solutions are in high demand.
Process security through real-time monitoring
The GDP guidelines for Good Distribution Practice require temperature control during the handling and distribution of pharmaceuticals. This is implemented 1:1 in the new network. The real-time monitoring not only gives the customer full control over temperature documentation in real-time but also ensures the necessary process security for the client. With the 24/7 temperature control, an update is available via the IT system of GDP network solutions every 15 minutes, and all vehicles can be monitored in the cloud. “We want to be the safest GDP network in Germany,” said Heinrich Koch in Berlin, “we are flexible and demand-oriented, fully in line with the strong position of the shareholders on site.” Koch added: “We are a cooperative of entrepreneurs and a very strong team.” This implies the core features of GDP network solutions: The GDP-compliant active temperature control in logistics as well as the regional significance of the medium-sized shareholders, who ensure nationwide coverage.
Discussions with potential new partners
These statements were echoed by Steven Reinhold from Unitax as well as the Managing Director of the new transport network, Jürgen Oetzel. Oetzel emphasized at the symposium in Berlin that GDP network solutions is open to network consolidation. In the Munich area, for example, promising discussions with potential partners are currently taking place.
Moreover, the network is already thinking in European dimensions to initially cover the D-A-CH countries. Additional regional hubs in the north or south of Germany are also conceivable, according to Oetzel. His conclusion: 100 days after the successful launch of the service offerings of the new player in active temperature-controlled pharmaceutical logistics, the company is on track and steering towards new goals.
