Jun 2, 2026 at 8:45 AMRotate has acquired Data Build Company (DBC) to advance the launch of Rotate Data Services. DBC is a Netherlands-based consulting firm specializing in data engineering, focusing on building data platforms and technological solutions for global organizations in the aviation, logistics, pharmaceuticals, finance, retail, and government sectors. With this acquisition, Rotate expands its capabilities to offer comprehensive data services for the air freight industry.
Integration of data expertise
The acquisition of DBC is intended to accelerate the establishment of Rotate Data Services, a consultancy focused on solving data issues in the air freight industry. This initiative aims to assist companies in developing a data strategy and building solid data foundations. Despite the abundance of data in the air freight sector, many companies struggle to convert it into actionable insights. Challenges such as isolated systems, poor data quality, and lack of standardization hinder the automation of processes and the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The fragmentation and low quality of data also impede the implementation of AI applications, leading to the industry’s ambitions in this area often remaining unfulfilled. Rotate plans to address these challenges by combining strategic consultants and experienced data engineers to consider both technological and business aspects of air freight.
Ryan Keyrouse, CEO of Rotate, explains the rationale behind the acquisition:
The air freight industry is excited about AI, and we want to help foster that enthusiasm. Over the past 15 years, we have collected enormous amounts of data – with all the associated quality issues – and that has made us very good at fixing them. Now we want to tackle these problems at the source. We haven’t seen anyone specifically helping air freight, which is why we launched Rotate Data Services last year. The acquisition of DBC allows us to better support the industry in realizing the value of their investments in data and technology.
Tom Schummer, Managing Partner of DBC, describes the benefits of integrating into Rotate:
DBC helps global companies across various industries understand their data. The business objectives are always at the forefront – where is the value? We assist in defining a data strategy, building strong data foundations, and adopting new technologies and AI capabilities. We are excited to join Rotate to bring these best practices to the air freight industry.
Rotate aims to transform the air freight industry through data-driven consulting, data services, and proprietary software products. The company, with offices in the Netherlands and Malaysia, employs over 60 strategy consultants, air freight experts, and technology professionals dedicated to developing practical solutions and strategies. Rotate is also a member of CargoTech, a consortium that seeks to promote and accelerate the digital transformation of the air freight industry.
