SC Ports expands RoRo activities in Charleston
May 19, 2026 at 1:58 PMNorthPort, one of the leading container ports in the Philippines that connects the capital region of Manila with the rest of the archipelago, has made significant progress as part of its three-year structural modernization program. According to the Philippine operator International Container Services, Inc. (Ictsi), several key testing and installation milestones have been achieved in recent weeks. Work on the first 40-meter section at Pier 16, which is part of a 100-meter work area, has been ongoing since April 2026.
The dynamic analysis tests conducted on the piles have achieved the required relief, confirming compliance with applicable engineering and safety standards. At Terminal 1, ongoing activities include subdeck repairs, rehabilitation of the quay structure, and asset tagging to support long-term asset management. These activities are being implemented alongside the testing and piling work to maintain construction progress while ensuring safety and quality standards.
Completion on schedule
The target for completing the current work remains by the end of June 2026, while the overall project continues to be on track for completion by the end of 2027, according to the approved three-year program.
The structural modernization work at Terminal 1 is in line with the approved schedule and does not hinder the strengthening of terminal infrastructure. This ensures ongoing readiness to support the growing trade and operational demands of the country.
