May 19, 2026 at 11:22 AMFederal Express Corporation (FedEx) has announced the start of construction for the expansion of its Clark Gateway in the Philippines. This measure aims to strengthen the country’s role as a key hub within the FedEx network in the Asia-Pacific region and improve connectivity to global markets. The new facility will cover an area of over 78,000 square meters and will be equipped with modern handling and operational processes to enhance the reliability of shipping flow and the flexibility of services.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place in the presence of high-ranking representatives of the Philippine government, including Frederick Go, Secretary of Finance, and Cristina Roque, Secretary of Trade and Industry. Their participation underscored the importance of a solid logistics infrastructure for trade, investment, and the economic growth of the country.
Expansion to support trade
Masamichi Ujiie, President of FedEx for the North and South Pacific region, emphasized the company’s commitment to the Philippines and the need to build a more resilient network in the region. „By improving our operations in Clark, we are better positioned to support Philippine businesses, facilitate cross-border trade, and provide more reliable access to global markets,“ Ujiie stated.
The expansion of the Clark Gateway will also strengthen local trade capabilities and deepen global connectivity. Frederick Go, Secretary of Finance, expressed optimism about the impact of this development: „Philippine businesses and consumers will be able to reach more markets, while foreign traders will also gain access to our markets. With the growth of the Asia-Pacific region, the Philippines will be better positioned to benefit from this momentum and drive our economic growth.“
Construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of calendar year 2026. Robinsons Land Corporation has been engaged as the developer for the project. Sustainability aspects have also been considered in the planning of the new facility to improve energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact. This includes, among other things, insulated building materials, energy-efficient glazing, a high-performance roofing system, LED lighting, daylight windows, and charging stations for electric vehicles.
This investment is part of FedEx’s broader strategy to enhance network reliability, improve customer experience, and position the company for long-term growth in the Asia-Pacific region.
