Apr 28, 2026 at 9:48 AMCSP Iberian Bilbao Terminal, a subsidiary of Cosco Shipping Ports (Spain) Terminals (aka CSP Spain) in the Bay of Bilbao Abra in the Bay of Biscay in the Atlantic Ocean, has commissioned a new super post-panamax crane, thereby expanding capacity in the port of Bilbao. The facility is expected to enhance productivity and efficiency when handling containerships.
The crane is among the largest of its kind in the Atlantic region and will become operational in June. It features modern technology and energy-efficient systems. Its lifting capacity is 83 t, its outreach is 20 container rows and its lifting height 56 m. Safety features such as collision protection and cameras support operations.
CSP has invested approximately EUR 10 million in the crane manufactured by ZPMC. The sum is part of a modernisation programme that will last until 2049. Previous investments in RTG cranes have already paid off. The move further strengthens the terminal’s role in the Atlantic logistics network.
