Cargo handling at Aena airports increases
Jan 14, 2026 at 8:53 AMContargo has acquired 50 percent of the shares in Cargo-Center-Graz Logistik (CCGL) as of January 1, 2026. This partnership aims to expand the logistical capabilities of both companies. While Contargo intends to enhance its network to the Adriatic ports, CCGL will be connected to the Contargo network via rail, as stated by Contargo.
CCGL at the Cargo Terminal Graz serves as a logistics platform responsible for organizing complete trains from Graz to the southern ports, as well as for truck pre- and post-hauls from Graz. Additionally, it takes over the complete operational planning of the transports.
Current Round Trips and Future Plans
Currently, CCGL operates several weekly round trips. These include a weekly round trip from Koper via Bilk to Enns and four weekly round trips between Koper and Graz, with an increase to six round trips planned for 2026. Furthermore, two weekly round trips between Graz and Enns are offered.
Andreas Mager, Head of Contargo Intermodal Solutions, commented on the partnership: “Both Contargo and CCGL will equally benefit from the exchange and bundling of our competencies. The resulting synergies will enable faster and more efficient implementation of projects.” A central focus of the collaboration is on connecting the German industry to the markets in Austria, the Adriatic ports, and Southeast Europe. In addition to containers, trailers are also expected to be transported on these routes in the future, according to the company.
