BEUMER Group opens new factory in China
Jan 8, 2026 at 9:31 AMEmirates SkyCargo has made significant progress in 2025 and plans to build on these successes through 2026. The cargo division of Emirates Airline has invested in expanding its fleet and network over the past twelve months, formed strategic partnerships, and introduced new products. Badr Abbas, Divisional Senior Vice President of Emirates SkyCargo, stated that the past year served as a foundation for future growth. In 2026, the fleet is expected to expand by up to ten Boeing 777F freighters, opening new opportunities for network and schedule expansions.
Fleet Modernization and Network Expansion
At the beginning of the year, Emirates SkyCargo received its first Boeing 777F freighters, allowing the airline to retire older aircraft and fulfill its commitment to operate one of the youngest fleets in the world. The current fleet includes 11 Boeing 777F and 5 chartered Boeing 747. Additionally, the first passenger aircraft of Emirates has been converted into a freighter, which is set to enter service in 2026. By the end of 2026, Emirates SkyCargo plans to operate at least 21 freighters, significantly increasing cargo capacity.
In 2025, cargo connections were also added to eight new destinations, including Copenhagen, Narita, and Bangkok. The airline has also increased frequencies on heavily trafficked routes such as Guangzhou and Shanghai. Emirates SkyCargo now serves 42 destinations worldwide with cargo flights.
Strategic Partnerships and Digital Innovations
Emirates SkyCargo has strengthened its network of over 180 global interline partners and made new agreements to expand its global reach. In February, a partnership was established with the African airline Astral Aviation, and in April with the Asian company Teleport. These collaborations aim to provide seamless connectivity to key trade hubs.
The airline has also invested in digital solutions. By December 2025, nearly 80% of all shipments were booked digitally, supported by the introduction of eSkyCargo and integration into digital marketplaces. Emirates SkyCargo was also the first provider in the region to introduce the PayCargo solution for instant payments to optimize the payment process.
New Products and Services
Emirates SkyCargo has established itself as the preferred airline for various shipments, including the transport of over 14,600 pets and the first prototype of the Koenigsegg supercar. In 2025, Emirates Courier Express was launched, a door-to-door delivery service already available in Australia and Germany, with plans to expand into other major economies by 2026.
The airline has also introduced a new vertical for air and engineering services, specializing in the transport of aircraft engines. In the field of food logistics, Emirates SkyCargo recorded a 10% growth, transporting an additional 25,700 tons of perishable goods. Furthermore, a 54% increase in the transport of sensitive pharmaceutical products was noted.
With these initiatives and investments, Emirates SkyCargo aims to further solidify its position in the global logistics market and double its capacity by 2026.
