O navio <em>M\/V Afros<\/em>, que \u00e9 o primeiro graneleiro equipado com velas rotativas, concluiu com sucesso sua segunda inspe\u00e7\u00e3o intermedi\u00e1ria ap\u00f3s mais de oito anos de opera\u00e7\u00e3o cont\u00ednua. A inspe\u00e7\u00e3o, realizada em 13 de abril pela Lloyd\u2019s Register na Jiangsu Watts Energy &amp; Engineering Co., confirmou que as quatro velas rotativas do navio est\u00e3o estruturalmente intactas e que n\u00e3o ocorreram problemas operacionais. Isso fornece uma confirma\u00e7\u00e3o independente da durabilidade e confiabilidade a longo prazo das velas rotativas da Anemoi.<\/p>\n<p>As velas rotativas foram instaladas em janeiro de 2018 a bordo do graneleiro Ultramax de 64.000 DWT, operado pela Blue Planet Shipping. Desde ent\u00e3o, as velas rotativas demonstraram na pr\u00e1tica que os sistemas de propuls\u00e3o assistidos pelo vento (WAPS) podem gerar economias de combust\u00edvel e redu\u00e7\u00f5es de emiss\u00f5es ao longo de per\u00edodos prolongados. A confirma\u00e7\u00e3o independente da Lloyd\u2019s Register ap\u00f3s mais de oito anos de opera\u00e7\u00e3o mostra que nossas velas rotativas n\u00e3o s\u00e3o apenas um conceito de descarboniza\u00e7\u00e3o, mas representam uma tecnologia dur\u00e1vel, pr\u00e1tica e comercialmente vi\u00e1vel para a frota global.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>No total, o navio economizou 1.340 t de combust\u00edvel e reduziu 4.980 t de emiss\u00f5es de CO\u2082 durante 154 viagens, enquanto a disponibilidade operacional desde a instala\u00e7\u00e3o foi superior a 95%. Al\u00e9m disso, o navio realizou cerca de 200 escalas em portos, o que destaca a compatibilidade com os requisitos do com\u00e9rcio comercial e as opera\u00e7\u00f5es portu\u00e1rias.<\/p>\n<p>As velas rotativas na <em>Afros<\/em> t\u00eam um di\u00e2metro de apenas 2 m e uma altura de 16 m, sendo menores do que os modelos atuais da Anemoi, que medem 5 m de di\u00e2metro e 35 m de altura. Os resultados correspondem a cerca de 1,33 t de combust\u00edvel economizado por vela e por dia de opera\u00e7\u00e3o, o que se aproxima das performances das mais recentes instala\u00e7\u00f5es da Anemoi. Essa forte correla\u00e7\u00e3o demonstra que as economias comprovadas neste caso tamb\u00e9m s\u00e3o transfer\u00edveis para sistemas comerciais maiores.<\/p>\n<p>Devido aos ganhos de efici\u00eancia alcan\u00e7ados, o navio conseguiu reduzir sua classifica\u00e7\u00e3o no \u00cdndice de Efici\u00eancia Energ\u00e9tica de Navios Existentes da IMO (EEXI) em cerca de 4,2%, o que prolonga a conformidade com os requisitos internacionais de efici\u00eancia energ\u00e9tica e melhora seu perfil regulat\u00f3rio.<\/p>\n<p>Nikos Apodiakos, CEO da Blue Planet Shipping, enfatizou: \u201cDesde a sua entrada em opera\u00e7\u00e3o, a <em>Afros<\/em> atendeu 32 diferentes fretadores, o que demonstra que o sistema de vela rotativa \u00e9 aceito pelos clientes comerciais e n\u00e3o representa desvantagem para a opera\u00e7\u00e3o no mercado spot.
