Deze nieuwe faciliteit zal een flexibele opslagruimte van tot 9.750 m\u00b2 bieden en is bedoeld om te voldoen aan de eisen van de luchtvrachtmarkt in de regio.<\/p>\n<h3>Ontwikkeling van een moderne vrachtfaciliteit<\/h3>\n<p>De geplande vrachtfaciliteit zal direct naast het vliegveld worden gebouwd, wat directe toegang voor vliegtuigen en een effici\u00ebnte afhandeling van vracht mogelijk maakt. Het ontwerp van de faciliteit zal aanpasbaar zijn om te voldoen aan de specifieke behoeften van de huurders. Het kan worden gebruikt door \u00e9\u00e9n enkele exploitant of worden verdeeld in tot vier aparte gebieden. De uitrusting omvat onder andere acht luchtzijdige toegangen voor luchtvracht, 40 laadperrons voor wegvervoer en meer dan 180 parkeerplaatsen voor voertuigen.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer Carter, Senior Vice President voor luchthavenzaken bij Realterm, benadrukt het belang van de luchthaven MDT voor de vrachtgroei in de regio: \u201eDe strategische ligging van de luchthaven in het hart van Centraal-Pennsylvania maakt het de ideale keuze voor exploitanten die een concurrentievoordeel in het Midden-Atlantische gebied zoeken.\u201c Volgens Airports Council International (ACI) World verwerkte de luchthaven in 2025 meer dan 55.000 ton vracht. Dit was 5,7% meer dan in 2024, maar rust bijna uitsluitend op twee aanbieders: FedEx met 29.900 ton (+23,8%) en UPS met 25.700 ton (-9,5%).<\/p>\n<h3>Strategische ligging en infrastructuur<\/h3>\n<p>De centrale ligging van de Harrisburg International Airport biedt een uitstekende verbinding met belangrijke verkeersaders en een verzorgingsgebied dat grote delen van Centraal-Pennsylvania en de steden Baltimore, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. en New York City omvat. Deze geografische voordelen hebben al aanzienlijke investeringen van bedrijven zoals UPS, Bayer en Coca-Cola aangetrokken.<\/p>\n<p>Alexi Lachambre, Senior Vice President voor investeringen in luchthaveninfrastructuur bij Realterm, benadrukt dat de samenwerking met SARAA een langdurige samenwerking vertegenwoordigt en dat er op MDT een aanzienlijk ongebruikt potentieel is. \u201eDit is een zeldzame kans op de huidige markt om een onmiddellijk ontwikkelbaar perceel op een strategische locatie in de VS te verwerven,\u201c aldus Lachambre.<\/p>\n<p>De nieuwe vrachtfaciliteit zal worden ontwikkeld volgens LEED-normen en zal milieuvriendelijke technologie\u00ebn integreren, zoals bewegingssensoren voor LED-verlichting en een infrastructuur voor elektrische voertuigen.
