De Grimaldi-groep heeft vandaag haar nieuwe schip „Grande Istanbul“ gepresenteerd in de autoport van de havencomplex in Kocaeli, Turkije. Dit evenement vond plaats in aanwezigheid van hooggeplaatste vertegenwoordigers, waaronder Edoardo Rixi, de Italiaanse staatssecretaris voor Infrastructuur en Vervoer, en Ertu\u011f \u015eevket Aksoy, de plaatsvervangende gouverneur van Kocaeli, zoals Grimaldi meldt. Ook Aras Serafettin, voorzitter van de International Transport Association (UND), en andere vertegenwoordigers uit de maritieme industrie waren aanwezig.<\/p>\n

Guido Grimaldi (afgebeeld), Corporate Short Sea Shipping Commercial Director van de Grimaldi-groep, verwelkomde de gasten aan boord van het nieuwe schip. In zijn toespraak benadrukte hij het strategische belang van Turkije binnen het wereldwijde maritieme en logistieke netwerk van de groep.<\/p>\n

Duurzaamheid in de focus<\/h3>\n

De „Grande Istanbul“ maakt deel uit van een reeks van 17 ammoniakgeschikte Pure Car & Truck Carriers (PCTCs) die door de Grimaldi-groep zijn besteld. Deze schepen zijn bedoeld om de effici\u00ebntie en duurzaamheid van de wereldwijde automobiellogistiek van de groep te verbeteren. Met een laadcapaciteit van maximaal 9.241 Car Equivalent Units (CEUs) is de „Grande Istanbul“ volgens Grimaldi in staat om de CO\u2082-uitstoot per vervoerde eenheid in vergelijking met eerdere scheepsgeneraties met tot wel 50% te verminderen.<\/p>\n

De „Grande Istanbul“ zal worden ingezet in de EuroMed-dienst van de Grimaldi-groep, die verschillende havens in Noord-Europa en het Middellandse Zeegebied verbindt. Tot de aangediende havens behoren onder andere Borusan, Derince, Gemlik, Haydarpa\u015fa en \u0130zmir in Turkije. De dienst vervoert een verscheidenheid aan voertuigen, waaronder auto’s, bestelwagens, vrachtwagens en containers.<\/p>\n
