Dit verklaarde Chris Daniels, Chief Commercial Officer van Global K9 (GK9), op de Multimodal in Birmingham.<\/p>\n<p>Daniels wees erop dat de huidige regeling het niet toestaat om vliegtuigmotoren in het Verenigd Koninkrijk door gecertificeerde hondenteams te laten controleren. Daarom moeten deze zendingen vaak over de weg naar Belgische luchthavens (Luik en Brussel) worden vervoerd, waar de hondencontroles volgens de Europese voorschriften zijn toegestaan. Na de controle in Europa kunnen de vrachtstukken dan als gecontroleerde zendingen naar het Verenigd Koninkrijk worden teruggebracht.<\/p>\n<p>\u201eDe luchtvracht in het Verenigd Koninkrijk maakt momenteel een kostbare en milieuschadelijke omweg\u201c, zei Daniels. Hij benadrukte dat in andere landen al hondencontroles voor vliegtuigmotoren zijn ingesteld en door ervaren dienstverleners worden ondersteund. De regelgevende kaders in het Verenigd Koninkrijk zijn echter nog niet in lijn met de operationele mogelijkheden.<\/p>\n<p>\u201eWe hebben een beleid nodig dat het mogelijke en het voordelige voor de sector weerspiegelt, terwijl de veiligheid altijd de hoogste prioriteit heeft\u201c, vervolgde Daniels.<\/p>\n<p>Global K9 heeft in december 2024 zijn Europese activiteiten gestart en is inmiddels actief in Nederland, Belgi\u00eb en het Verenigd Koninkrijk. In het Verenigd Koninkrijk zijn de zogenaamde Free Running Explosive Detection Dogs (FREDDs) gestationeerd op luchthavens in Londen (Heathrow en Gatwick) en Aberdeen.<\/p>\n<p>In de VS werkt het bedrijf nauw samen met de Transportation Security Administration (TSA) om de ontwikkeling van voorschriften voor hondencontroles in de vrachtsector te ondersteunen. GK9 was de eerste organisatie die een door de TSA goedgekeurde Certified Cargo Screening Facility \u2013 K9 (CCSF-K9) exploiteerde.<\/p>\n<p>Daniels benadrukte dat een nauwere samenwerking tussen de industrie en de regelgevende instanties zou kunnen helpen om de Britse veiligheidsvoorschriften te moderniseren, zonder de hoogste veiligheidsnormen in gevaar te brengen.<\/p>\n<p>Hij wees erop dat de goedkeuring van gecertificeerde hondencontroles voor vliegtuigmotoren in het Verenigd Koninkrijk onnodige grensoverschrijdende transporten zou verminderen, de operationele kosten voor exporteurs zou verlagen en de concurrentiekracht van de Britse luchtvrachtsector zou vergroten door meer controles in het land uit te voeren.<\/p>\n<p>\u201eLogistiek is een van de grootste veroorzakers van transportemissies\u201c, voegde Daniels toe. \u201eWaar veilige en beschermde alternatieven bestaan die onnodige bewegingen verminderen, hebben we de verantwoordelijkheid om deze te
