Deze aanschaf maakt deel uit van een programma ter verbetering van de scheepvaartafhandeling en de effici\u00ebntie van de terminal, aldus de moederorganisatie ICTSI. Met de nieuwe kranen, die zijn ontworpen voor het omgaan met grotere schepen van tot 400 meter lengte en een capaciteit van tot 20.000 twintigvoet-equivalent-eenheden (TEU&#8217;s), moet de bezettingsgraad van de ligplaatsen worden geoptimaliseerd en de doorlooptijden worden verkort.<\/p>\n<h3>Uitbreiding van de capaciteiten<\/h3>\n<p>Door de recente investering stijgt het aantal havenkranen bij RBT tot in totaal zes. Deze maatregel vindt plaats volgens ICTSI tegen de achtergrond van een stijging van het containervolume in de haven van Rio, die sinds 2023 waarneembaar is. Deze stijging weerspiegelt de groei in de Braziliaanse buitenlandse handel en toont de noodzaak aan om de infrastructuur van de terminal dienovereenkomstig aan te passen. De uitbreiding van RBT is gericht op het omgaan met het toenemende handelsvolume en het voldoen aan de eisen van grotere schepen die steeds vaker de oostkust van Zuid-Amerika aandoen.<\/p>\n<p>Het moderniseringsprogramma omvat naast de aanschaf van nieuwe kranen ook de uitbreiding en herstructurering van opslagterreinen, evenals de optimalisatie van de interne bedrijfsprocessen. Deze maatregelen moeten bijdragen aan het versterken van de positie van de haven van Rio om de Braziliaanse buitenlandse handel en de logistieke keten van het land te ondersteunen.
