Cathay Cargo heeft de vloot uitgebreid met een Airbus A330-freighter om de groei verder te ondersteunen. Deze maatregel volgt op de recente aankondiging van het bedrijf dat er twee extra Airbus A350F-freighters zijn besteld. De nieuwe Airbus A330P2F, die is verworven via een leaseovereenkomst met Air Hong Kong, een bedrijf van de Cathay Group, zal extra vrachtcapaciteit voor klanten bieden en de positie van Hongkong als wereldwijd toonaangevend luchtvrachtcentrum versterken.<\/p>\n

De A330-freighter wordt voornamelijk ingezet door Air Hong Kong, dat precies 40 jaar geleden werd opgericht als de eerste pure vrachtluchtvaartmaatschappij met hoofdkantoor in Hongkong, om vrachtvluchten naar het Chinese vasteland en andere regionale bestemmingen voor Cathay Cargo uit te voeren. Dominic Perret, directeur Cargo bij Cathay, verklaarde:<\/p>\n

\u201eDe Cathay Group versterkt onze freightervloot om de groeiplannen van Cathay Cargo te ondersteunen, ons netwerk uit te breiden en de status van Hongkong als toonaangevend luchtvrachtcentrum te verstevigen. De extra capaciteit van de nieuwste A330-freighter van Air Hong Kong zal de toekomstige A350F-freighters van Cathay Cargo aanvullen en ons meer flexibiliteit bieden om ons regionale vracht-netwerk uit te breiden.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Uitbreiding van de vloot en nieuwe mogelijkheden<\/h3>\n

Agatha Lee, Chief Operating Officer van Air Hong Kong, sprak ook over de nieuwe vloot:<\/p>\n

\u201eWe kijken ernaar uit om dit nieuwste lid van onze vloot te verwelkomen, dat Air Hong Kong in staat zal stellen de kansen te benutten die het drie-runway-systeem op de internationale luchthaven van Hongkong biedt, om onze aanwezigheid in de regio uit te breiden. Dit markeert een spannend hoofdstuk voor Air Hong Kong, terwijl we ons bedrijf uitbreiden om de voortdurende ontwikkeling van het internationale luchtverkeerscentrum van Hongkong te ondersteunen.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

De A330-freighter zal in het vierde kwartaal van 2026 worden opgenomen in de vloot van Air Hong Kong, op basis van een langlopende leaseovereenkomst met de Air Transport Services Group, Inc. (ATSG) voor een vliegtuig dat wordt gehouden door hun leasingdochter Cargo Aircraft Management (CAM). Momenteel exploiteert Air Hong Kong een vloot van 14 A330-freighters die expres-vrachtservices voor DHL Express aanbieden.<\/p>\n

Cathay Cargo zelf exploiteert een vloot van 20 Boeing 747-freighters en maakt daarnaast gebruik van de vrachtcapaciteit in het passagiersnetwerk van de Cathay Group, dat meer dan 100 bestemmingen wereldwijd bedient.<\/p>\n
