Volgens een recente analyse van Armstrong &amp; Associates (A&amp;A) stegen de netto-omzetten van de 3PL-markt in de VS &#8211; in de tabel de tien grootste dienstverleners op basis van bruto-omzet in 2026 &#8211; met 5,1% tot 138 miljard USD. Dit volgt op een gematigde groei van 1,8% in 2024. De bruto-omzetten van alle segmenten van de 3PL-markt vertoonden een jaar-op-jaar stijging van 5%, wat aanzienlijk boven de groei van 2,8% in het voorgaande jaar ligt. In totaal wordt de waarde van de Amerikaanse 3PL-markt voor 2025 geschat op 323,4 miljard USD.<\/p>\n<h3>Marktentwikkeling en uitdagingen<\/h3>\n<p>De onzekerheden in de handelsomgeving, met name met betrekking tot douanes, hebben geleid tot een toename van de vraag naar 3PL-diensten. Bedrijven proberen hun toeleveringsketens te herstructureren door middel van nearshoring en reshoring, wat de vraag naar logistieke diensten, met name op grensoverschrijdende routes, verhoogt. Ondanks deze uitdagingen is er een lichtpuntje: het Amerikaanse Hooggerechtshof verklaarde de IEEPA-douanes illegaal, wat leidde tot een stabilisatie van het wereldwijde douanetarief rond de 11%. Deze voorspelbaarheid kan importeurs helpen zich beter aan te passen aan de marktomstandigheden.<\/p>\n<p>De macro-economische situatie blijft echter gespannen. Het consumentenvertrouwen is zwak, terwijl de uitgaven in de sectoren diensten en niet-bederfelijke goederen stabiel blijven. Stijgende benzineprijzen, veroorzaakt door het aanhoudende conflict met Iran, kunnen de koopkracht van consumenten verder onder druk zetten en leiden tot stagnatie. De signalen wijzen erop dat de vracht-recessie, die eind 2022 begon, ten einde loopt. De capaciteit van de ingehuurde motorvoertuigen is aanzienlijk afgenomen, aangezien kleinere aanbieders de markt hebben verlaten.<\/p>\n<h3>Segmentanalyses en vooruitzichten<\/h3>\n<p>De 3PL-markt in de VS is onderverdeeld in vier hoofdsegmenten: Dedicated Contract Carriage (DCC), Value-Added Warehousing and Distribution (VAWD), International Transportation Management (ITM) en Domestic Transportation Management (DTM). Het ITM-segment vertoonde in 2025 de snelste groei met een stijging van de bruto-omzetten van 7,7% tot 85,9 miljard USD. De netto-omzetten stegen met 11% tot 30,4 miljard USD. Deze ontwikkeling is te wijten aan de onzekerheden in verband met douanes en handelsoorlogen, die importeurs ertoe aanzetten hun goederen voorafgaand aan mogelijke douanestijgingen in te kopen.<\/p>\n<p>In het DTM-segment, dat de grootste subcategorie vertegenwoordigt, stegen de bruto-omzetten met 4,5% tot 128,3 miljard USD. De netto-omzetten groeiden met 3% tot 19,6 miljard USD. De marktomstandigheden vertonen de eerste tekenen van herstel, aangezien de spotprijzen stijgen en de tenderable-rejections toenemen. De DCC-tak, die zich richt op langlopende contracten, groeide met 1,6% tot 32 miljard USD.<\/p>\n<p>De VAWD-tak, die zich richt op langlopende opslag- en distributiediensten, vertoonde een groei van 4,4% tot 72,7 miljard USD. Deze stabiliteit is te danken aan de aanhoudende vraag naar flexibele opslagoplossingen, die voortkomt uit de noodzaak om voorraden op te bouwen.<\/p>\n<h3>Technologische ontwikkelingen en M&amp;A-activiteiten<\/h3>\n<p>De digitalisering in de 3PL-sector neemt toe, waarbij veel aanbieders investeren in technologie\u00ebn om hun diensten te optimaliseren. Geautomatiseerde systemen voor documentatie en compliance winnen aan belang, terwijl grote aanbieders een concurrentievoordeel behalen door technologische innovaties. De M&amp;A-activiteiten in de 3PL-sector vertonen ook een opwaartse trend, waarbij significante transacties van meer dan 100 miljoen USD toenemen.
