Dit werd bekendgemaakt na een ontmoeting tussen Dr. Irfaan Ali, de president van het Zuid-Amerikaanse land, en leidinggevenden van Cargojet Airways in Canada. Guyana&#8217;s minister van openbare nutsvoorzieningen en luchtvaart, de heer Deodat Indar, ontmoette ook vertegenwoordigers van DHL, die Cargojet Airways hebben ingeschakeld om de nieuwe diensten te co\u00f6rdineren.<\/p>\n<p>De wekelijkse vluchten zullen de route Miami (MIA) \u2013 Caracas, Venezuela (CCS) \u2013 Georgetown (GEO) \u2013 Medellin, Colombia (MDE) \u2013 Miami (MIA) bedienen en zijn speciaal bedoeld voor DHL Express USA. Minister Indar feliciteerde de leidinggevenden van DHL, Maurice John en Xavier Cerruto, met de lancering van de nieuwe service.<\/p>\n<p>De minister wees erop dat de Canadese vrachtluchtvaartmaatschappij de kansen in Guyana benut die voortkomen uit de significante groei in het internationale luchtvrachtverkeer sinds 2020. Deze groei weerspiegelt de zich ontwikkelende economie van het land, de toenemende handelsactiviteit en de groeiende internationale verbinding.<\/p>\n<p>De luchtvrachtvolumes in Guyana zijn gestegen van 7600 t in 2020 naar 14.400 t in 2025, wat een stijging van 88,5 % over een periode van vijf jaar betekent. Deze stijging is voornamelijk te wijten aan de invoer van industri\u00eble apparatuur en materialen die de snelgroeiende olie- en gassector van het land ondersteunen. Bovendien speelt de aanhoudende stijging van e-commerce en de vraag naar luchtvrachtdiensten een cruciale rol.<\/p>\n<p>In 2026 zet de opwaartse trend zich voort, met een verdere stijging van het vrachtvolume met 21% in het huidige jaar. Dit onderstreept de steeds belangrijkere rol van luchtvracht voor de nationale ontwikkeling, handel en bedrijfsvoering in Guyana.<\/p>\n<p>De sector profiteert ook van de aanwezigheid en uitbreiding van internationale vrachtvervoerders, die de luchtvrachtcapaciteiten hebben vergroot en Guyana&#8217;s toegang tot regionale en wereldwijde markten hebben versterkt.
