Tijdens een demonstratie toonden de Havenautoriteit Rotterdam en partners van het Europese project MAGPIE aan hoe een binnenvaartschip zelfstandig tussen twee terminals in een drukbevaren haven kan navigeren. Het schip volbracht de uitdaging om veilig onder regulier scheepvaartverkeer te varen.<\/p>\n<p>Het binnenvaartschip <em>MS Letitia<\/em>, dat tot de HTS Group behoort, vertrok vanuit de Amaliahaven op de Maasvlakte en voer via de Europoort en de Nieuwe Waterweg naar de Waalhaven in Rotterdam. Tijdens de demonstratie opereerde de conventioneel aangedreven <em>MS Letitia<\/em> autonoom. Het schip voerde verschillende manoeuvres uit, waaronder het afvaren, het varen door de haven en langs de rivier, evenals het aanleggen, alles zonder menselijke tussenkomst. Tegelijkertijd hield het systeem continu zijn omgeving in de gaten, herkende andere schepen en omzeilde deze veilig, rekening houdend met de omstandigheden. De kapitein blijft echter uiteindelijk verantwoordelijk en kan te allen tijde ingrijpen, terwijl het systeem de navigatie en besluitvorming ondersteunt.<\/p>\n<h3>Noodzaak van onderzoek in autonoom scheepvaart<\/h3>\n<p>Oscar van Veen, directeur innovatie bij de Havenautoriteit Rotterdam, verklaarde:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201eAutonoom varen maakt nieuwe logistieke concepten mogelijk die de flexibiliteit, effici\u00ebntie en betrouwbaarheid van de binnenvaart verbeteren. Deze is een belangrijke transportweg voor het achterlandverkeer van de haven van Rotterdam. Containers, bulkgoederen en vloeistoffen die via binnenwateren worden vervoerd, ontlasten het wegennet en worden energie-effici\u00ebnter verplaatst dan over de weg. Gezien de groei van het vrachtvolume is het cruciaal dat de binnenvaart zijn aandeel in het vrachtvervoer behoudt en uitbreidt. Autonoom varen zou daarbij een rol kunnen spelen.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>De toekomst van slimme havens<\/h3>\n<p>Europa staat voor grote uitdagingen met betrekking tot de energietransitie, de industri\u00eble concurrentiekracht, de klimaatdoelen en de strategische veerkracht. Havens spelen een steeds belangrijkere rol als locaties waar innovaties worden ontwikkeld en praktisch worden toegepast. Het MAGPIE-project is opgezet om deze ontwikkeling te versnellen.<\/p>\n<p>De autonome scheepvaart is een van de tien demonstratieprojecten binnen MAGPIE. Deze demonstratoren in de maritieme sector, binnenvaart, spoor- en wegvervoer bieden praktische inzichten die havens onmiddellijk kunnen toepassen om de overgang naar milieuvriendelijkere bedrijfsvoering te ondersteunen.<\/p>\n<h3>Implementatie van innovaties in de praktijk<\/h3>\n<p>De projectpartners Alphatron Marine, Argonics en Argonav zullen elementen van deze demonstratie integreren in hun assistentieproducten voor binnenvaartschepen. De argoPositionPilot is al beschikbaar voor schepen met een vaste schroef en roer, terwijl de argoRadarPilot de intenties zal weergeven en over een botsingspreventie zal beschikken.<\/p>\n<p>MAGPIE (sMArt Green Ports as Integrated Efficient multimodal hubs) is een Europees innovatieproject dat tot doel heeft de overgang naar klimaatneutrale havens te versnellen. Geco\u00f6rdineerd door de Havenautoriteit Rotterdam en mede gefinancierd door de Europese Unie, brengt MAGPIE 45 partners samen om innovaties op het gebied van schone energie, digitalisering en duurzame logistiek te ontwikkelen, te testen en op te schalen.
