Het evenement vond plaats tijdens de algemene vergadering van de Atlantic Arc Commission van de Conferentie van Perifere Maritieme Regio&#8217;s (CPMR) en bracht vertegenwoordigers van instellingen, havenautoriteiten, Atlantische regio&#8217;s en internationale organisaties samen, zoals de haven van Bilbao meldt.<\/p>\n<h3>Havens als motoren<\/h3>\n<p>De deelnemers aan het evenement wisselden ervaringen uit over de relaties tussen havens en hun lokale regio&#8217;s en bespraken de uitdagingen met betrekking tot de energietransitie, duurzaamheid, innovatie en concurrentievermogen. Jimenez legde uit hoe het model van Bilbao, dat erkend is voor de stedelijke en regionale transformatie, zich in de loop der jaren heeft ontwikkeld. Hij benadrukte het belang van samenwerking tussen de publieke sector, het bedrijfsleven en de gemeenschap om ingrijpende veranderingen in de industrie en de havensector om te zetten in kansen voor economische ontwikkeling en stadsvernieuwing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201eDe casus Bilbao heeft aangetoond dat processen van grote transformaties alleen succesvol kunnen worden doorgevoerd als er een gezamenlijke langetermijnvisie en effectieve samenwerking tussen instellingen, het bedrijfsleven en lokale gemeenschappen bestaat\u201c, verklaarde Jimenez. Hij wees erop dat de regio nu, nu de stedelijke transformatie van Bilbao is voltooid, voor nieuwe uitdagingen staat.
