{"id":93033,"date":"2026-06-08T10:02:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-08T10:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/transportjournal.com\/2026\/06\/08\/resultaten-van-ueccs-10-jarige-lng-cursus\/"},"modified":"2026-06-08T13:27:36","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T11:27:36","slug":"resultaten-van-ueccs-10-jarige-lng-cursus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/transportjournal.com\/nl\/2026\/06\/08\/resultaten-van-ueccs-10-jarige-lng-cursus\/","title":{"rendered":"Resultaten van UECC&#8217;s 10-jarige LNG-cursus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>United European Car Carriers (UECC) heeft zich in de afgelopen tien jaar een leidende positie verworven op het gebied van milieuvriendelijke scheepvaart door vroegtijdige investeringen in op LNG aangedreven schepen, aldus het bedrijf. Het is van plan de emissiereductiedoelstellingen van de International Maritime Organization (IMO) en de Europese Unie (EU) tot 2030 te overtreffen. Dit moet worden ondersteund door de introductie van BioLNG, die de milieuprestaties van de vloot verder moet verbeteren.<\/p>\n<p>In 2016 leverde UECC de eerste twee dual-fuel LNG Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTC&#8217;s), &#8222;Auto Eco&#8220; en &#8222;Auto Energy&#8220;, af. Deze schepen, die zijn gebouwd in de Chinese NACKS-werven, hebben volgens UECC nieuwe normen gesteld voor milieuvriendelijke zeetransport in de Europese kortseero-rohandel. In de daaropvolgende jaren breidde UECC zijn vloot uit met drie andere multi-brandstof LNG-batterij-hybride PCTC&#8217;s, die in 2021 in gebruik werden genomen. Deze nieuwbouw, &#8222;Auto Achieve&#8220;, &#8222;Auto Aspire&#8220; en &#8222;Auto Advance&#8220;, werd vervaardigd in de Jiangnan-werven.<\/p>\n<h3>Duurzaamheidsstrategie en toekomstige investeringen<\/h3>\n<p>In 2028 is de levering van vier extra multi-brandstof LNG-batterij-hybride PCTC&#8217;s uit de China Merchants Jinling Shipyard Nanjing gepland. Het bedrijf volgt naar eigen zeggen een strategie die de integratie van LNG-technologie met energie-effici\u00ebntiekenmerken omvat, om emissiebesparingen te realiseren en de netto-nuldoelen te bereiken.<\/p>\n<p>Volgens Glenn Edvardsen, CEO van UECC, heeft het bedrijf door proactieve maatregelen in de afgelopen tien jaar de CO\u2082-voetafdruk van zijn operaties continu verminderd. Dit heeft zich bewezen als een concurrentievoordeel, vooral sinds de invoering van de CO\u2082-prijsregulering. De nieuwbouwinvesteringen hebben ook bijgedragen aan het verminderen van de blootstelling aan het EU-emissiehandelssysteem (EU ETS) en het opereren van de vloot met een compliance-overschot onder FuelEU Maritime. Dit stelt UECC in staat om zowel toeslagen te vermijden als inkomstenpotentieel te cre\u00ebren door pooling.<\/p>\n<h3>Vooruitgang bij emissiereductie<\/h3>\n<p>UECC heeft naar eigen zeggen als doel gesteld de emissies tot 2030 met 45% te verminderen ten opzichte van 2014, wat neerkomt op ongeveer 186.600 t CO\u2082. Het bedrijf registreerde vorig jaar een vermindering van bijna 154.500 t CO\u2082, wat een verbetering is ten opzichte van de 3.200 t in 2017. Daarnaast heeft UECC de ontwikkeling van een bunkernetwerk bevorderd om de vraag naar BioLNG te stimuleren. Een overeenkomst voor levering met Titan Clean Fuels voor de LBM-bunkering in de haven van Rotterdam is ondertekend om het belangrijkste Noord-Zuid-handelsnetwerk van het bedrijf te bedienen onder het motto &#8222;Sail for Change&#8220;.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8222;We hebben de LNG-technologie en de brede beschikbaarheid van de brandstof effectief benut om deze baanbrekende oplossing in de
