Het doel van deze samenwerking is om geavanceerde technologie\u00ebn op het gebied van kunstmatige intelligentie en digitale spoorwegetechnologie\u00ebn te integreren in een van de belangrijkste overslagplaatsen voor overmaatstransporten in de VS.<\/p>\n<p>De partnerschap moet een van de grootste uitdagingen in de wereldwijde logistiek aanpakken: het veilige en effici\u00ebnte transport van extreem grote en zware industri\u00eble installaties door het Amerikaanse spoorwegnet. Gezien de toenemende vraag naar energie-infrastructuur, datacenters en industri\u00eble productie, wordt het transport van overmaatstransporten, zoals grote transformatoren, componenten voor windturbines en industri\u00eble generatoren, steeds belangrijker. Een groot deel van deze apparatuur wordt per schip uit het buitenland geleverd en moet vervolgens per spoor het binnenland in worden vervoerd, omdat de wegen vaak niet geschikt zijn voor de grootte en het gewicht van de lading.<\/p>\n<h3>Optimalisatie van het transportproces<\/h3>\n<p>De haven van New Orleans fungeert al als een belangrijke overslagplaats voor zware ladingen en projectlading en heeft directe toegang tot alle zes grote Amerikaanse spoorwegmaatschappijen via de New Orleans Public Belt Railroad. De planning van dergelijke overmaatstransporten kan echter weken of zelfs maanden duren, omdat elke zending zorgvuldig moet worden gecontroleerd op brugtoelatingen, tunnelbeperkingen en spoorweginfrastructuur.<\/p>\n<p>De samenwerking met UTC Transoceanic is gericht op het aanzienlijk vereenvoudigen van dit proces. UTC Transoceanic is een recent opgericht joint venture tussen het in New Orleans gevestigde bedrijf Transoceanic, geleid door Greg Rusovich, en het wereldwijde logistieke bedrijf UTC Overseas uit Houston. Dit platform kan snel bepalen of de lading door het spoorwegnet kan worden vervoerd en de beste routingopties aanbevelen.<\/p>\n<p>Onder deze applicatie bevindt zich een \u201edigitale tweeling\u201c van de New Orleans Public Belt Railroad, die een live digitale weergave van het spoorwegnet biedt en continu informatie over toelatingen, brugbeoordelingen en infrastructuurcondities in real-time volgt.<\/p>\n<p>Voor de maritieme gemeenschap zou de introductie van deze technologie aanzienlijke gevolgen kunnen hebben.
