Deze locomotief gaat op zijn eerste missie om componenten voor het Artemis-III-maanverkenningsprogramma van NASA te transporteren. Het transport omvat vaste-brandstofraketmotoren van het Space Launch System, die van belang zijn voor de verkenning van de diepe ruimte en de terugkeer van de mensheid naar de maan, zoals Union Pacific onlangs heeft meegedeeld.<\/p>\n<p>Het transport begon vanuit een scheepvaartfaciliteit nabij Corinne, Utah. Bij de doopceremonie van de locomotief waren naast Union Pacific-CEO Jim Vena ook de voorzitter van het Huis van Afgevaardigden van Utah, Mike Schultz, de president van de Senaat van Utah, J. Stuart Adams, en leidinggevenden van Northrop Grumman, NASA en Wabtec aanwezig. Locomotief nr. 4547 viert de 250ste verjaardag van de Verenigde Staten en zou volgens het bedrijf de huidige president eren.<\/p>\n<p>Naast de nieuwe locomotief was ook nr. 1616 aanwezig, een andere gedenklocomotief die herinnert aan president Abraham Lincoln en de geschiedenis van Union Pacific. Lincoln richtte Union Pacific op in 1862, toen hij de Pacific Railway Act ondertekende.
