Het Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT) in de haven van Melbourne heeft onlangs vier nieuwe Kalmar-hybride automatische containertransporters (ACC) in gebruik genomen. Deze maken deel uit van een uitbreidingsprogramma dat tot doel heeft de jaarlijkse capaciteit van de terminal te verhogen tot meer dan 1,6 miljoen 20-voet-equivalent-eenheden (TEU’s). De integratie van de nieuwe ACC’s moet ook bijdragen aan een effici\u00ebnter en duurzamer functioneren van de terminal, aldus VICT.<\/p>\n

Techniek moet effici\u00ebntie verhogen<\/h3>\n

De nieuwe containertransporters zijn volgens de terminal ontwikkeld om de productiviteit te verhogen door de laadtijden te minimaliseren. De hybride ACC’s hebben een hefvermogen van tot 60 ton en zijn uitgerust met lithium-ion-batterijsystemen. Deze technologie maakt energieterugwinning tijdens het gebruik mogelijk, wat volgens de fabrikant leidt tot een stijging van de energie-effici\u00ebntie met 40 procent. Daarnaast wordt een jaarlijkse vermindering van de CO2-uitstoot van tot 50 ton verwacht. De overdracht van de nieuwe voertuigen vond plaats op 26 mei, waarbij onder anderen Sami Niiranen, president en CEO van Kalmar, en het management en het operationele personeel van VICT aanwezig waren.<\/p>\n
