Het rapport toont aan dat LPG een direct inzetbare en schaalbare brandstofalternatief is dat al in de scheepvaart wordt gebruikt, aldus het bedrijf.<\/p>\n<p>Volgens LR zijn er wereldwijd meer dan 1.600 LPG-tankers in gebruik, ondersteund door een volwassen wereldwijde toeleveringsketen die meer dan 1.000 opslaglocaties en terminals omvat. Deze infrastructuur maakt het mogelijk om LPG als een geloofwaardige optie voor een emissie-arme scheepvaart te benutten. Het rapport benadrukt dat LPG niet alleen technologisch bewezen is, maar ook een brede beschikbaarheid heeft, wat het een aantrekkelijke brandstof voor de sector maakt.<\/p>\n<h3>Milieuvoordelen van vloeibaar gas<\/h3>\n<p>Het gebruik van LPG biedt volgens LR in vergelijking met traditionele scheepsbrandstoffen significante milieuvoordelen: de brandstof stoot ongeveer 97% minder zwaveloxiden, 90% minder fijnstof en ongeveer 20% minder kooldioxide uit dan zware stookolie.
