Deze maatregel maakt deel uit van de inspanningen van de Maledivische regering om vrijzones in de noordelijke en zuidelijke regio&#8217;s van het land te vestigen. De openingsceremonie vond plaats in de Addu High School en werd geleid door Mohamed Saeed, de minister van economische ontwikkeling, transport en handel, en Ali Ihusan, de minister van binnenlandse veiligheid, werk en technologie.<\/p>\n<p>Met de opening van de Addu Regional Free Zone biedt Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) ge\u00efnteresseerde bedrijven de mogelijkheid om tot 11 juni 2026 een verzoek tot deelname (Expressions of Interest, EOI) in te dienen voor de opslag van vracht en daaraan gerelateerde activiteiten in de vrijzone. Dit initiatief is bedoeld om de economische ontwikkeling in de regio te bevorderen en nieuwe zakelijke kansen te cre\u00ebren.<\/p>\n<p>De oprichting van vrijzones wordt door de regering gezien als een strategische stap om de economische diversificatie te bevorderen en de aantrekkelijkheid van de Malediven voor investeerders te vergroten. De Addu Regional Free Zone zal naar verwachting een centrale rol spelen in deze inspanningen door bedrijven aan te trekken die actief zijn in de sectoren logistiek, handel en diensten.<\/p>\n<p>De opening van de vrijzone wordt beschouwd als een belangrijke stap in de economische ontwikkeling van de Malediven, aangezien deze de infrastructuur en de randvoorwaarden voor bedrijven moet verbeteren. De regering van de eilandstaat in de Indische Oceaan hoopt dat de vrijzone niet alleen lokale bedrijven ondersteunt, maar ook internationale investeerders aantrekt die kunnen bijdragen aan de creatie
