De op afstand bediende \u00abRail-Mounted-Gantry\u00bb-kranen zijn de eerste van hun soort in Halifax (Nova Scotia, Canada) en moeten de capaciteit, effici\u00ebntie en veiligheid in de terminaloperaties verhogen.<\/p>\n<p>De investering maakt deel uit van het \u00abInter-Terminal Rail Solution Project\u00bb, een initiatief dat wordt geleid door de Halifax Port Authority en wordt ondersteund door het \u00abNational Trade Corridors Fund\u00bb van Transport Canada. Dit project omvat de optimalisatie van de spoorwegcapaciteiten bij de Atlantic Hub om te voldoen aan de groeiende vraag.<\/p>\n<h3>Containerafhandeling verbeteren<\/h3>\n<p>De bediening gebeurt vanuit een centraal controlecentrum. Hierdoor hoeven medewerkers niet meer op grote hoogte of bij moeilijke weersomstandigheden te werken. Tegelijkertijd moeten de nieuwe installaties de nauwkeurigheid en snelheid bij de containerafhandeling verbeteren.<\/p>\n<p>De kranen zijn verantwoordelijk voor het laden en lossen van containers voor treinshuttles tussen de terminals Atlantic Hub en Fairview Cove. Volgens de haven zou hierdoor driekwart van het vrachtverkeer dat door havenactiviteiten wordt veroorzaakt, uit het stadsgebied kunnen worden verplaatst. Bovendien moeten de elektrisch aangedreven installaties de CO\u2082-uitstoot jaarlijks met ongeveer 640 ton verlagen.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.psahalifax.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener
