Het doel is om de bezetting van de treinen te verbeteren, kosten te verlagen en het goederenvervoer per spoor op lange termijn economischer te maken. Achtergrond is de eis van de federale overheid dat het goederenvervoer vanaf 2033 zelfstandig moet worden uitgevoerd.<\/p>\n<p>In de toekomst zullen ongeveer 50 bedieningspunten met een lage vraag niet meer in het EWLV worden bediend. Vandaag de dag omvat het netwerk ongeveer 280 locaties. Volgens de SBB zullen echter ongeveer 98% van de huidige transportvolumes nog steeds per spoor worden vervoerd. Tegelijkertijd moeten beter bezette treinen de effici\u00ebntie verhogen.<\/p>\n<p>Voor ongeveer 200 medewerkers in Zwitserland brengt de omschakeling veranderingen met zich mee, vooral in de werkplek. Betroffen zijn onder andere locaties in Brig, Buchs SG, Chiasso, Thun en Fribourg. Ontslagen zouden volgens de SBB de uitzondering moeten blijven.
