De installatie, die momenteel in Mechelen wordt gerealiseerd, zal dienen als centrale hub voor het onderhoud, de reparatie en de modernisering van het spoorvoertuigenpark. Door gebruik te maken van een brownfield-locatie wordt bovendien een duurzame ruimtebenutting bevorderd.<\/p>\n<p>Egon Braem, hoofd Industrie bij Alheembouw, benadrukt dat de doordachte oplossing van Dematic het mogelijk heeft gemaakt om het ontwerp van het nieuwe kantoorgebouw en het handmatige magazijn te optimaliseren. Dit heeft het bedrijf een voordeel opgeleverd in het aanbestedingsproces en heeft bijgedragen aan de keuze van Alheembouw en Dematic als voorkeurspartnerteam door de NMBS.<\/p>\n<p>Met de nieuwbouw streeft de NMBS ernaar de verouderde structuren, die deels uit de tijd van de Tweede Wereldoorlog stammen, te moderniseren en de operatie toekomstbestendig te maken. Na een openbare aanbesteding viel in 2025 de beslissing ten gunste van Alheembouw, waarbij Dematic vanwege zijn ervaring met de integratie van AutoStore\u2122-systemen vroegtijdig in het projectproces werd betrokken.<\/p>\n<h3>Effici\u00ebnte opslag en moderne techniek<\/h3>\n<p>Het hart van de nieuwe installatie is een hoogbouwmagazijn, dat is uitgerust met zes stapelaars en een hoogte van 45 m en een lengte van 120 m heeft. In een dubbel diepe opslagconfiguratie ontstaan meer dan 48.000 palletplaatsen, die een ruimte-effici\u00ebnte opslag van grote hoeveelheden goederen mogelijk maken. Daarnaast zijn er drie direct aangesloten pickstations voorzien, die snelle processen bij de levering van vervangingsonderdelen waarborgen.<\/p>\n<p>Daarnaast wordt op een tussenverdieping een AutoStore\u2122-systeem ge\u00efnstalleerd. Deze oplossing maakt de opslag van een verscheidenheid aan artikelen op minimale oppervlakte mogelijk en vermindert interne transportafstanden. Met meer dan 17.000 containers en vier SwingPort\u2122-werkstations, bediend door zes robots, wordt een hoge effici\u00ebntie in de magazijnoperatie nagestreefd.<\/p>\n<p>Beide systemen zijn met elkaar verbonden via het Warehouse-Control-Systeem van Dematic, wat een continue materiaalstroom en een realtime aansturing van alle processen waarborgt. Dit moet de systeemprestaties in het gehele logistieke centrum blijvend hoog houden.<\/p>\n<p>Farly Orie, hoofd van de Benelux-markt bij Dematic, benadrukt dat het project nieuwe maatstaven in de spoorlogistiek zet. De combinatie van hoogbouwmagazijn en AutoStore\u2122-systeem verhoogt de beschikbaarheid en betrouwbaarheid van de vervangingsonderdelenlogistiek. Bovendien maakt de hogere opslagdichtheid een effici\u00ebnter gebruik van ruimte en middelen gedurende de gehele levenscyclus mogelijk.<\/p>\n<p>De automatisering van het magazijn is al ver gevorderd, en de voltooiing van het totale project, inclusief een nieuw kantoorgebouw, is gepland voor 2027.
