Het bedrijf benadrukt zijn verplichting om het commerci\u00eble en industri\u00eble transport onder alle omstandigheden betrouwbaar te maken en te reageren op veranderingen in de zakelijke omgeving door middel van langetermijninvesteringen.<\/p>\n<h3>Geopolitieke invloeden op de markt<\/h3>\n<p>De eerste drie maanden van het jaar waren voor de gehele scheepvaartsector gekenmerkt door structurele volatiliteit. In het bijzonder leidde het conflict in het Midden-Oosten, dat werd veroorzaakt door de Amerikaanse en Isra\u00eblische aanval op Iran op 28 februari 2026 en de sluiting van de Straat van Hormuz, tot aanzienlijke verstoringen op de wereldwijde oliemarkt. Finnlines werd onmiddellijk geconfronteerd met een stijging van de brandstofprijzen en een verhoogde prijsvolatiliteit. De vertraging bij de aanpassing van de gestegen brandstofkosten in de Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF) had op korte termijn negatieve gevolgen voor het financi\u00eble resultaat van het bedrijf.<\/p>\n<p>Naast de uitdagingen door de wereldwijde energiecrisis traden vanaf 1 januari 2026 nieuwe vereisten van het EU-emissiehandelssysteem (ETS) in werking, die voorschrijven dat schepen 100 procent van hun emissies moeten dekken. Dit leidde tot aanzienlijke nieuwe koolstoftoeslagen, die de kosten voor de intra-Europese handel verder verhoogden.<\/p>\n<h3>Financi\u00eble stabiliteit in het eerste kwartaal<\/h3>\n<p>Ondanks deze uitdagingen boekte Finnlines in het eerste kwartaal van 2026 een stabiele financi\u00eble start. De omzet van de Finnlines-groep bedroeg in de periode van januari tot maart 176,9 miljoen EUR, vergeleken met 166,0 miljoen EUR in 2025. De financi\u00eble situatie van het bedrijf blijft sterk. Het resultaat voor rente en belastingen (EBIT) bedroeg 10,3 miljoen EUR, terwijl het resultaat voor belastingen (EBT) met 8,0 miljoen EUR licht boven het voorgaande jaar van 7,9 miljoen EUR lag, wat te danken is aan lagere financieringskosten.<\/p>\n<p>In totaal vervoerde Finnlines in het eerste kwartaal ongeveer 196.000 laadunits, waaronder 19.000 auto&#8217;s (zonder passagiersvoertuigen) en 297.000 ton niet-unitaire vracht. Daarnaast reisden 162.000 particuliere passagiers en beroepschauffeurs met het bedrijf.<\/p>\n<h3>Toewijding aan maritieme logistiek<\/h3>\n<p>Ondanks de geopolitieke onzekerheden bevestigt Finnlines zijn toewijding om een kritieke maritieme logistieke infrastructuur te bieden die de integriteit van de Europese interne markt waarborgt en zo bijdraagt aan de strategische autonomie van Europa. Het bedrijf beschouwt het als zijn taak om de stroom van handel en industrieel transport onder alle omstandigheden betrouwbaar te maken en te reageren op veranderingen in de zakelijke omgeving door middel van langetermijninvesteringen.<\/p>\n<p>Door voortdurende investeringen in nieuwe en energie-effici\u00ebnte schepen vermindert Finnlines niet alleen zijn emissies, maar ook de kwetsbaarheid voor stijgende energiekosten.
