Cydome, een specialist in maritieme cyberbeveiliging, waarschuwt dat schepen ondanks een uitgeschakeld AIS nog steeds elektronisch te traceren zijn.<\/p>\n<p>De reden hiervoor zijn andere digitale interfaces, met name VSAT-satellietverbindingen, die continu gegevens verzenden. Zelfs als een schip voor klassieke lokalisatiesystemen onzichtbaar wordt, kan zijn positie via deze kanalen nog steeds worden herkend. Cydome wijst erop dat een exclusieve focus op het uitschakelen van AIS de risico&#8217;s zelfs kan verhogen.<\/p>\n<p>Dit komt volgens Cydome doordat \u00abde bemanning gelooft dat ze verborgen is, terwijl bedreigingsactoren het schip nog steeds via zijn VSAT-handtekening kunnen volgen en targeten. Het niet dichten van deze kloof brengt niet alleen het risico van een datalek met zich mee; het kan ook de fysieke veiligheid van de bemanning, de integriteit van de lading en nog veel meer in gevaar brengen.\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Onderzoeken tonen bovendien aan dat veel VSAT-systemen onvoldoende beveiligd zijn en potenti\u00eble aanvalspunten bieden. Daarnaast kunnen ze dienen als toegang tot boordnetwerken en kritieke systemen be\u00efnvloeden.<\/p>\n<p>Het bedrijf raadt daarom een uitgebreide veiligheidsaanpak aan.
