Dit komt overeen met een verdubbeling ten opzichte van het voorgaande jaar. De Duitse rederij Hapag-Lloyd meldde voor het jaar 2024 volgens het rapport een winst van 2,9 miljard dollar.<\/p>\n<h3>Belastingdruk van grote rederijen laag<\/h3>\n<p>Ondanks deze hoge winsten blijft de belastingdruk voor de scheepvaartbedrijven volgens Opportunity Green relatief laag. De tien genoemde bedrijven betaalden in 2024 5,1 miljard dollar aan belastingen, wat overeenkomt met een effectieve belastingtarief van 11,9%. Deze waarde ligt aanzienlijk onder het wereldwijde gemiddelde van 21,1% en ook onder het door de Organisatie voor Economische Samenwerking en Ontwikkeling (OESO) vastgestelde wereldwijde minimumbelastingtarief van 15%, waarvan de internationale scheepvaart is uitgesloten. In Duitsland bedroeg het gemiddelde vennootschapsbelastingtarief in 2024 27%, terwijl Hapag-Lloyd 9,9% betaalde, zoals de NGO meldt.
