GXO Logistics heeft op 31 maart 2026 de opening van zijn nieuwe locatie in Sant\u2019Antonino, Zwitserland, gevierd. Tijdens een ceremonie, waaraan onder anderen de CEO van GXO, Patrick Kelleher, en andere leidinggevenden en lokale vertegenwoordigers deelnamen, werd de locatie ingewijd als onderdeel van het wereldwijde netwerk van het bedrijf. De nieuwe logistieke hub moet fungeren als een technologisch geavanceerde en toekomstgerichte faciliteit.<\/p>\n

De locatie in het kanton Ticino vormt een strategisch knooppunt voor GXO. Het verbindt Noord- en Zuid-Europa en is aangesloten op belangrijke internationale logistieke corridors. De goede bereikbaarheid via weg- en spoorinfrastructuur ondersteunt aanzienlijke vrachtstromen. Bijzonder vermeldenswaardig is de spoorverbinding met het hoofdsorteringscentrum van de Zwitserse Post in H\u00e4rkingen, die snellere logistiek mogelijk maakt en bijdraagt aan de effici\u00ebntie van de toeleveringsketen.<\/p>\n

Met de opening versterkt GXO zijn aanwezigheid in Zwitserland en zet het in op een meertalig team dat in staat is om in de vier nationale talen te communiceren. Paul Mohan, president van GXO voor Continentaal Europa, benadrukte dat de locatie Sant\u2019Antonino de groeistrategie van het bedrijf in de regio weerspiegelt, die is gebaseerd op moderne infrastructuur en een langetermijnvisie.<\/p>\n

Technologie en automatisering in de schijnwerpers<\/h3>\n

Automatisering speelt een centrale rol op de nieuwe locatie. Het moet de productiviteit verhogen en de veiligheid in vergelijking met traditionele magazijnen verbeteren. Tot de technische voorzieningen behoren een multi-shuttle-systeem voor de opslag en orderverzameling van lichte producten, evenals een geautomatiseerd pallet-shuttlesysteem voor zware en omvangrijke artikelen. In totaal biedt de locatie ruimte voor 14.000 containers en 600 pallets.<\/p>\n

De logistieke processen zijn zo ontworpen dat ze een effici\u00ebnte orderverwerking mogelijk maken. Bij 60 inpakstations worden de producten geordend en geconsolideerd. Bovendien helpen geautomatiseerde inpakstations om de dichtheid van de uitgaande pakketten te verhogen. Mobiele rekkenystemen, die tot 15 m hoog zijn, maken een ruimtebesparende palletopslag mogelijk.<\/p>\n

De locatie beslaat een oppervlakte van 20.000 m\u00b2 en biedt in totaal 55.000 m\u00b2 aan gebruiksoppervlakte. Met zijn hoogte en 20 laad- en losdocks is de faciliteit ontworpen voor een toekomstgericht bedrijfsmodel. De indeling van de processen moet de organisatie van de activiteiten optimaliseren en een effici\u00ebnte ruimtebenutting waarborgen.<\/p>\n

Bovendien voldoet de faciliteit aan strenge milieunormen. Het is gecertificeerd met LEED Platinum en ISO 14001 en beschikt over zonnepanelen op een oppervlakte van 20.000 m\u00b2, die jaarlijks ongeveer 800.000 kWh opwekken. Systemen voor het monitoren van het energieverbruik en het afvalbeheer ondersteunen een verantwoord gebruik van hulpbronnen.<\/p>\n

Alessandro Renzo, directeur van GXO Itali\u00eb en Zwitserland, benadrukte dat de groei van het bedrijf is gebaseerd op het cre\u00ebren van milieuvriendelijke locaties die processen optimaliseren en afval verminderen. Deze balans is cruciaal voor de ontwikkeling van de aanwezigheid van GXO in Zwitserland.<\/p>\n
