De regio herbergt industri\u00eble installaties langs de Rijn en in de westduitse kanaalgebieden en beschikt over de drukste binnenhavens van het land, zoals de Verband der Deutschen Binnenschifffahrt (BDB) en de Verband Spedition und Logistik Nordrhein-Westfalen (VSL NRW) gezamenlijk meedelen. Deze vorm van goederenvervoer staat echter voor uitdagingen als de infrastructuur niet voldoende wordt gemoderniseerd. Dit was het centrale thema van het 8e Binnenvaartforum, dat afgelopen woensdag in Neuss plaatsvond en werd georganiseerd door de verenigingen BDB en VSL NRW.<\/p>\n<h3>Dringende tot actie voor de waterwegeninfrastructuur<\/h3>\n<p>De deelnemers van het forum benadrukken de noodzaak om de waterwegeninfrastructuur te versterken om te voldoen aan de eisen van de binnenvaart. Economieminister Mona Neubaur wees erop dat de binnenvaart een cruciale rol speelt voor de economische positie van Nordrhein-Westfalen. Ze vervoert grote hoeveelheden goederen op een kosteneffectieve, veilige en milieuvriendelijke manier en draagt zo bij aan de werkgelegenheid en de voorzieningszekerheid.<\/p>\n<p>Toch waarschuwde Neubaur voor een dreigend verlies van substantie bij de federale waterwegen, die nog steeds ondergefinancierd zijn. &#8222;Daarom zet de deelstaatregering zich actief in bij de federale overheid voor meer geld voor de waterwegen en voor opname in het bijzondere fonds voor infrastructuur en klimaatneutraliteit,&#8220; verklaarde ze.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.binnenschiff.de\/\"
