Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) heeft als eerste luchtvrachtterminal ter wereld 100% gesloten recyclingplasticfolies ge\u00efntroduceerd voor gebruik in de vrachtverwerking. Deze ontwikkeling vormt een belangrijke stap in de vermindering van nieuw plastic en kan als model voor de hele sector dienen.<\/p>\n

Sinds 2022 gebruikt Hactl plasticfolies die uit 30 tot 50% gerecycled materiaal bestaan. In samenwerking met het Nano and Advanced Materials Institute (NAMI) is nu een volledig gesloten oplossing ontwikkeld, die is gemaakt van post-consumer plasticafval van Hactl. Deze innovatie wordt onmiddellijk in de bedrijfsvoering ge\u00efntegreerd.<\/p>\n

De implementatie van deze 100% gesloten recyclingplasticfolies moet niet alleen het verbruik van nieuw plastic verminderen, maar ook andere bedrijven in de sector aanmoedigen om soortgelijke maatregelen te nemen. Het doel is om een cultuur te bevorderen waarin milieuvriendelijke praktijken de norm worden.<\/p>\n

Amy Lam, Chief Sustainability Officer van Hactl, benadrukt het belang van deze initiatief: \u201cOnze eerdere plasticfolies bevatten al 30-50% gerecycled materiaal, maar we wilden onze overgang naar een circulaire economie versnellen en tastbare voordelen voor de industrie en de samenleving cre\u00ebren. De nieuwe 100% gesloten recyclingplasticfolies stellen ons in staat om dit doel te bereiken.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hactl beschouwt zichzelf als een belangrijke speler in de luchtvrachtsector in Hongkong en is ervan overtuigd dat door het gebruik van gerecycled materiaal in de verpakking van vliegtuigpaletten de recyclingpercentages aanzienlijk kunnen worden verbeterd. Lam legt uit: \u201cWe geloven dat er groot potentieel is om de prestaties van de luchtvrachtindustrie op dit gebied te verbeteren. Door een hoger percentage gerecycled materiaal in onze plasticfolies te integreren, kunnen we gesloten recyclingprocessen bereiken, de CO2-voetafdruk van onze sector aanzienlijk verminderen en duizenden tonnen niet-biologisch afbreekbaar plastic van onze stortplaatsen afhouden.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hactl is de grootste onafhankelijke operator van luchtvrachtterminals in Hongkong en heeft met zijn hooggeautomatiseerde SuperTerminal 1-faciliteit een jaarlijkse capaciteit van 3,5 miljoen ton luchtvracht. Sinds de oprichting in 1976 heeft het bedrijf door voortdurende investeringen en innovaties bijgedragen aan de ontwikkeling van de Hong Kong International Airport als de drukste luchtvracht-hub ter wereld. Hactl voldoet aan alle relevante industrienormen, waaronder ISAGO, WHO GDP en alle vier IATA CEIV-certificeringen.<\/p>\n
