Dit blijkt uit een recent rapport van UL Standards &amp; Engagement (ULSE). De toename van de incidenten hangt samen met de stijgende vraag naar batterij-aangedreven producten.<\/p>\n<p>De bevindingen zijn gebaseerd op gegevens uit de Thermal Runaway Incident Program-database van ULSE, evenals op interviews en focusgroepen die zijn gehouden met verschillende belanghebbenden in de luchtvrachtsector. Dit omvat vrachtluchtvaartmaatschappijen, regelgevende instanties, fabrikanten, expediteurs en individuele verzenders wereldwijd. Het rapport belicht de redenen voor de aanhoudende toename van thermische doorbranding, de risico&#8217;s in de toeleveringsketen en het gefragmenteerde toezicht dat ertoe leidt dat onveilige zendingen ongezien over grenzen worden vervoerd.<\/p>\n<p>Bob McClelland, hoofd transportveiligheid bij ULSE, verklaarde: \u201eLithiumbatterijen zijn een essentieel onderdeel van het moderne leven, maar vormen ook een groeiend en te vermijden risico in de luchtvracht. De stijging van de incidenten is geen toeval \u2013 het weerspiegelt identificeerbare hiaten in de batterijkwaliteit, het bewustzijn van verzenders, het regelgevende toezicht en de verantwoordelijkheid in de toeleveringsketen. Deze systemische zwakheden moeten beter worden aangepakt om deze zorgwekkende trend te keren.\u201c<\/p>\n<h3>Oorzaken, risico&#8217;s en aanbevelingen<\/h3>\n<p>Het rapport identificeert verschillende sleutelfactoren die bijdragen aan de toename van de incidenten. Ten eerste zijn de kwaliteit van de batterijen en het gedrag van de verzenders cruciale risicofactoren. Kleinere verzenders beschikken vaak niet over de nodige expertise in het omgaan met gevaarlijke stoffen en vertrouwen erop dat de transportdienstverleners fouten herkennen. Dit onvoldoende toezicht en ongelijke handhaving van voorschriften leiden ertoe dat vrachtluchtvaartmaatschappijen risico&#8217;s moeten beheren die zij niet hebben veroorzaakt en vaak niet volledig kunnen herkennen.<\/p>\n<p>Geografische verschillen spelen ook een rol bij de risicobeoordeling. De kwaliteit van de productie, het regelgevende toezicht en de handhaving vari\u00ebren sterk tussen de regio&#8217;s. Meer dan de helft van de incidenten met bekende oorsprong vindt plaats op een handvol Aziatische luchthavens, wat bijdraagt aan de perceptie dat geografische verschillen andere risico&#8217;s, zoals de batterijkwaliteit en het gedrag van de verzenders, versterken.<\/p>\n<p>Het rapport doet drie centrale aanbevelingen om de veiligheid in de luchtvracht te verbeteren: Ten eerste moet er een duidelijke en handhaafbare verantwoordelijkheid langs de gehele toeleveringsketen worden vastgesteld. Ten tweede is het belangrijk om de opleiding en de wereldwijde co\u00f6rdinatie van de sector te versterken om onduidelijkheden te verminderen en fouten te voorkomen.
