De analyse toont aan dat schepen met waterstofaandrijving afhankelijk zijn van ontwerpgebaseerde veiligheidsbenaderingen en aanvullende beschermingsmaatregelen. Waterstof kan snel ontvlambare gaswolken vormen en heeft een zeer lage ontstekingsenergie, wat het explosierisico verhoogt.<\/p>\n<p>Ontwerpoplossingen voor risicoreductie<\/p>\n<p>Linda Hammer (Foto), vakexpert bij DNV en hoofdauteur van het rapport, verklaarde: \u00abDe studie komt tot de conclusie dat de veiligheid van waterstof aangedreven schepen moet berusten op een eerste reactie die robuuste containment, secundaire behuizingen en geautomatiseerde beschermingssystemen omvat. Dit weerspiegelt zowel de snelheid waarmee waterstofincidenten kunnen escaleren als de beperkte mogelijkheden voor detectie en reactie na een vrijgave, vooral in de complexe maritieme omgeving.\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Het rapport beveelt aan dat waterstofsystemen aan boord secundaire behuizingen voor alle brandstofleidende componenten krijgen, inclusief installaties op open dekken. Deze barri\u00e8res moeten de impact van mogelijke lekkages beperken en de veilige werking ondersteunen.<\/p>\n<p>De onderzoekers wijzen ook op werkgerelateerde risico&#8217;s voor de bemanning. De hoge ontvlambaarheid van waterstof en de zeer lage opslagtemperaturen van zijn vloeibare toestand cre\u00ebren nieuwe gevaren. Zeelieden hebben daarom speciale trainingen nodig om risico&#8217;s te herkennen en op incidenten te kunnen reageren. Duidelijke procedures en robuuste veiligheidsmanagementsystemen blijven cruciaal.<\/p>\n<p>De studie benadrukt dat technische containment, geautomatiseerde beschermingssystemen en gestructureerd veiligheidsmanagement moeten samenwerken om risico&#8217;s te verminderen, terwijl waterstoftechnologie\u00ebn geleidelijk in de maritieme transportsector worden ge\u00efntroduceerd.<\/p>\n<p><a
