Thermo Fisher Scientific heeft een nieuw distributiecentrum geopend in Bracetown, County Meath, Ierland. De faciliteit van 6.500 m\u00b2 zal de opslag- en distributiemogelijkheden van het bedrijf aanzienlijk uitbreiden in een van de toonaangevende centra voor farmaceutische en biopharmazeutische productie wereldwijd.<\/p>\n

Met deze nieuwe faciliteit zal de distributiecapaciteit van Thermo Fisher in Ierland met meer dan 400% toenemen. Dit maakt het mogelijk om een breder portfolio van producten te leveren en op te slaan die nodig zijn voor onderzoek naar geneesmiddelenontdekking, klinische ontwikkeling en commerci\u00eble productie. De investering is gericht op het versterken van de veerkracht van de toeleveringsketen voor de snelgroeiende levenswetenschappensector in Ierland en het verbeteren van de lokale toegang tot belangrijke materialen, chemicali\u00ebn en temperatuurgevoelige producten. Door de uitbreiding van de lokale voorraad en de versnelling van de orderverwerking zullen biopharmazeutische en academische organisaties in staat zijn om de doorlooptijden te verkorten en een ononderbroken productie te ondersteunen.<\/p>\n

Duurzaamheid in de focus<\/h3>\n

Het nieuwe distributiecentrum is ontworpen met een focus op duurzaamheid en langdurige energie-effici\u00ebntie. Een zonne-energiesysteem ter plaatse zal naar verwachting jaarlijks ongeveer 120.000 kWh elektriciteit opwekken. Bovendien maakt een hoogeffici\u00ebnte warmtepomp het mogelijk om de faciliteit te laten draaien op 100% hernieuwbare energie. De faciliteit heeft een A2-beoordeling voor energieverbruik (Building Energy Rating, BER) behaald, wat wijst op een sterke energie-effici\u00ebntie.<\/p>\n

Claire Wallace, president van de Research & Safety Market Division van Thermo Fisher Scientific in Europa, benadrukte bij de opening: \u201eDe opening van vandaag weerspiegelt onze langdurige inzet om de dynamische levenswetenschappensector in Ierland te ondersteunen. De offici\u00eble opening vond plaats tijdens een ceremonie met hooggeplaatste gasten, waaronder Peter Burke, minister van Bedrijven, Toerisme en Werkgelegenheid, en Rory Mullen, hoofd van de levenswetenschappen bij de Industrial Development Authority (IDA) Ierland.<\/p>\n
