De omleiding van goederen die traditioneel via de Rode Zee en het Suezkanaal werden vervoerd, om het Kaap de Goede Hoop, heeft de transittijden aanzienlijk verlengd. Dit leidde tot stijgende vrachtkosten en onvoorspelbare levertijden, die zowel de toeleveringsketens als de budgetten van bedrijven onder druk zetten, aldus DHL in een verklaring.<\/p>\n<h3>Heropening van de scheepvaartroutes<\/h3>\n<p>In februari 2026 maakte de Gemini Cooperation de herstart van haar &#8222;ME11-dienst&#8220; bekend. Deze scheepvaartroute verbindt het Midden-Oosten en India met de Middellandse Zee en wordt nu onder maritieme bescherming via de Rode Zee en het Suezkanaal ge\u00ebxploiteerd. Dit vormt volgens DHL de eerste doorgang van deze aard sinds de onderbrekingen.<\/p>\n<p>Hoewel deze ontwikkeling niet betekent dat het scheepvaartverkeer onmiddellijk weer het niveau van voor 2023 zal bereiken, interpreteert DHL het toch als een signaal voor een mogelijke verbetering van de situatie. De veranderingen in de routedynamiek kunnen invloed hebben op verschillende aspecten die van belang zijn voor Keniaanse importeurs.
