De Commissie erkent volgens het bedrijf het strategische belang van de veersector en is van plan de maritieme industrie te ondersteunen in haar decarbonisering. Een centraal punt is de herinvestering van de opbrengsten uit het EU-emissiehandelssysteem (ETS) in de ontwikkeling van de scheepvaart, wat overeenkomt met de langdurige eisen van Interferry.<\/p>\n<p>De Europese Commissie schat dat de maritieme industrie jaarlijks tussen de 2,4 miljard en 8,5 miljard euro nodig heeft om haar vloot te decarboniseren. Interferry is verheugd dat de Commissie van plan is een aanzienlijk deel van de jaarlijks ongeveer 10 miljard euro aan ETS-opbrengsten te gebruiken voor de invoering van schone technologie\u00ebn. Een geplande EU-mechanisme moet rederijen ETS-certificaten bieden voor het gebruik van duurzame brandstoffen en schone aandrijfsystemen, waarbij deze aan specifieke EU-criteria zijn gebonden.<\/p>\n<h3>Elektrificatie als sleutel<\/h3>\n<p>Interferry benadrukt dat de strategie de recente bevindingen van milieuorganisaties ondersteunt, die het potentieel van elektrificatie in de veerbootsector benadrukken. In het bijzonder beschouwt Interferry de elektrificatie van havens, om landstroom te leveren, als een van de laagdrempelige maatregelen voor onmiddellijke emissiereductie. Door gebruik te maken van landstroom kunnen de emissies in havensteden worden verlaagd, wat tegelijkertijd investeringen in batterij-elektrische schepen zou bevorderen.<\/p>\n<p><a
